For this list, we're looking at the music videos that created enough hate to earn millions of dislikes online. We're basing our choices on a mix of statistics (as of mid-2018) and the various reasons behind the outrage.
 

#10: "Look What You Made Me Do" (2017) 
Taylor Swift 

With its graveyard opening and high concept visuals, there's definitely a lot going on in 'Look What You Made Me Do'. While the video is certainly complex, much of the negative attention came from Swift's unexpected musical switch-up. In fact, 'Look What You Made Me Do' broke a record by earning an unprecedented 43 million views within 24 hours of releasing, but it also eventually racked up 1.2 million dislikes. Artistically killing her former personalities didn't earn T-Swift much good will with her fans either. However, the negative press turned 'Look What You Made Me Do' into a colossal hit, proving there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
 
 

9: "Wrecking Ball" (2013) 
Miley Cyrus

After her family-friendly era as a pop-star, Miley Cyrus left everyone reasonably stunned with 'Wrecking Ball.' Cyrus struts around in her underwear before suggestively licking a sledgehammer multiple times. It's the naked wrecking ball swinging, however, that caused the most controversy, making the video iconic. While Miley has admitted regret over the video herself, some critics have argued its shock value helped her career. The surprise would also explain the edge in dislikes it earned over her other videos like 'We Can't Stop.', with 1.4 million users giving “Wrecking Ball” a thumbs down. The racy concept and distinct look have made 'Wrecking Ball' unforgettable, for better or for worse.


 

#8: "Anaconda" (2014)
Nicki Minaj

Though sexuality has become more pervasive in music videos, 'Anaconda' took things to a whole new level. Nicki Minaj's revealing outfits and highly provocative dancing were compared to pornography by some listeners, and all the twerking and additional grinding scenes only added to the video's backlash, as evidenced in the 1.5 million dislikes. Though many called the video vile for the sake of popularity, others deemed it subversively empowering for women. The clip does boast plenty of clever imagery, and its editing even matches the music at its fastest moments. Still, “Anaconda” pushed a lot of people’s buttons. 


 

#7: "Sweatshirt" (2016)
Jacob Sartorious

From its cheesy sitcom opening and cringe-inducing acting, 'Sweatshirt' had a lot working against it. Despite his popularity with young fans, Jacob Sartorious's auto-tuned voice rubbed at least 2 million listeners the wrong way. Though Sartorious' manufactured pop-star aesthetic has earned criticism, he’s also faced an irrational amount of hate over his looks. That said, without all the effects, 'Sweatshirt' follows just about every music video trope there is. So while the hate for the video has been blown out of proportion, it's undoubtedly still difficult to watch.


 

#6: "Gangnam Style" (2012)

'Gangnam Style' is undeniably different than your average music video. All the outlandish style and bizarre scenes are certainly memorable, but over two million of its viewers think it’s memorable for all the wrong reasons. While any video would attract a few haters, three billion views brings PSY plenty of attention, whether it's helpful or not. However, at the height of its popularity, the video also became the first on Youtube to pass one billion views, so it’s safe to say the song has more than its fair share of fans. The unapologetic quirks of 'Gangnam Style' continue to perplex its droves of viewers around the world. 


 

#5: "How It Is (Wap Bap...)" (2017)

German vlogger Bianca Heinicke decided to try her hand at music with this song, but the results were less than stellar. Comments and critics alike tore into Heinicke's use of Auto-tune and her barely understandable pronunciation. The lyrics you can hear are painfully lazy, and Bianca doesn't even use words in her chorus. People have even compared the song's inoffensive music to advertising jingles, and some fans also called out Heinicke for plagiarizing Lenka's song 'The Show.'  The universally negative reception helped 'How It Is' become the most disliked video from a German channel within just a year of its release, and as of August 2018 it sits at over 2.8 million dislikes.


 

#4: "Friday" (2011)
Rebecca Black

At just thirteen-years-old, Rebecca Black put out 'Friday' and became one of the most mocked singers on the planet. Black's nasally vocals and the bizarrely written lyrics had people roasting her across social media. The bullying extended far enough offline that Black allegedly had to drop out of school until things calmed down.  On a more positive note, Black has since bounced back with a fairly successful Youtube channel. However, 'Friday' remains a lasting part of her legacy, with the re-uploaded music video having over three million dislikes.


 

#3: "Despacito" feat. Daddy Yankee (2017)
Luis Fonsi

Whether you wanted to hear it or not, it was hard to miss Luis Fonsi's 'Despacito' in 2017. The song's infectious melodies and Latin rhythms quickly made it a worldwide hit, and had fans and radio stations playing it again and again. Though it's not a particularly bad song, some critics believe the combination of overexposure in public spaces and the song's simple writing started to annoy listeners. While the music video has over 3.4 million dislikes, it also has the distinction of being the most-viewed video on Youtube, so there’s no denying its popularity.
 
 

#2: "It's Everyday Bro" feat. Team 10 (2017)
Jake Paul

It may be a diss track, but Jake Paul gave viewers plenty of fodder to fire back at him with 'It's Everyday Bro.' The video sees Paul flaunting his wealth in arguably trashy ways, while constantly yelling at the camera. Lame rap verses from Jake and his crew test listeners' patience before the auto-tune pushes them even further. Paul also mocks several popular YouTubers like PewDiePie and Alissa Violet, adding fuel to the fire, which probably helped contribute to the video’s over 3.8 million dislikes. The online drama went far enough that Jake even issued an apology. However, Paul's obnoxious personality hasn't made 'It's Everyday Bro' any easier to handle.

Justin Bieber

While hating on Justin Bieber has gone out of style, his video for 'Baby' has repeatedly become the most disliked video on YouTube since 2010. While the video certainly looks a little dated, most of the vitriol seems to be directed at Bieber and his voice. Between a mob mentality of haters and Bieber’s own occasionally mischievous behavior, 'Baby' has been the focal point of many people's rage. While 'Sorry' has earned over one million dislikes, 'Baby' has soared above nine million. With Bieber's notoriety and the song's success, it doesn't look like 'Baby' will be dethroned anytime soon.
