Ozzy Osbourne sure has made some mistakes in his life: the excessive drugs, the dove, the bat (sort of like an old-school version of the cream and the clear, I presume).
But his phenomenal success has two major elements worth noting:
In 1980, Black Sabbath kicked him out of the band. Within a few short years, he eclipsed them. That’s worthy of much praise.
Then, in the late 1990s, he wanted to participate in Lollapalooza, and was rebuffed, because he was an outsider and deemed unhip… so he launched Ozzfest and today is raking it in… and more importantly, being introduced to legions of new fans.
Brilliant.
I always say: if you don’t pass the ball, others will go and play elsewhere; create an environment where people want to play with you, against you etc. If you want to win, you need adversaries, teammates… and a contest, but if others - for whatever reason - don’t show up, indeed you can always get a new game going… all you need is patience.
