According to the DailyTelegraph
“Electro-pop star Harris, who rose to fame on MySpace before signing to major label Sony Music, used the innovative “Humanthesizer” to play his latest single Ready For The Weekend.
15 women use their bodies as switches on large circuits laid out on the studio floor.
They can safely conduct electricity across their skin using a special type of body paint, developed by students at London’s Royal College of Art (RCA), which channels the current without electric shocks.
By clapping and stamping their feet on electric pads, the women complete the circuits which are hooked up to a computer. “
Sexting is a growing problem that both parents and schools need to be made aware of because these sex texts are a growing form of bullying.
According to a study done by the charity Beatbullying,
“More than a third of under-18s have been sent offensive or distressing sexual images electronically.”
Beatbullying’s chief executive, Emma-Jane Cross, said
“new technology was facilitating sexual contact between teenagers and that this needed to be addressed. We don’t want to inhibit young people in their exploration of sexuality, but it is important that parents and schools are aware that ’sexting’ is a significant issue among our children and young people, so together we can act to stop this kind of behaviour before it escalates into something far more problematic.”
It is astounding that eBay forked over $3B for Skype and didn’t actually buy Skype’s underlying technology.
It is amazing that they didn’t realize this and outright criminal that they didn’t get a fully-paid, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive (exclusive for the purposes of international calling) license.
Om Malik has all of the links you need:
- Skype Founders suggest they still own underlying technology to Skype
- Will Joltid turn eBay’s planned Skype IPO into a nightmare?
- Why eBay Should Accept Skype Founders’ Buyout Offer.
Now this will probably get settled one way or another, and as a non-Skype user, non-eBay shareholder, I don’t really care either way.
But a few points:
- this proves that just because you hire expensive lawyers doesn’t mean anything.
- One more example of upward failing, and to think this woman, Meg Whitman, could have been our Treasury secretary. I am sorry how wonderful Ms. Whitman was, this was done on her watch and it’s just appaling in terms of botched due diligence.
- With all due respect to Skype founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, you have to wonder, will anyone ever buy a company from them again? I mean, sure Viacom/CBS and a number of VCs invested in their next venture Joost (hmm… is there such a thing as karma?), but this was before this bit of news was out. Ultimately, I am not sure I would have a lot of comfort and confidence doing a deal with these guys.
To many people caller ID has been a savior. We can avoid an awkward dates calls, dodge credit collectors and just always having a chance to answer the phone prepared.
The bad news is that people like Matthew Weigman, 19, are using caller ID to take their pranks to an entire new level. Known as ‘Little Hacker,’ he’d use the 911 system to send SWAT teams to victims’ houses. On Friday, Weigman was sentenced “to more than 11 years in prison Friday for hacking into the telephone network and harassing the Verizon investigator who was building a case against him.”
Weigman was part of a swatters group that make prank 911 calls, but they use spoofing technology to make it appear as though the call is being made from a victim’s house. The idea behind this is to have their victims harassed by having police show up at their door, guns drawn.
Due to Weigman and other swatters the idea to ban caller ID is being discussed. Lawmakers in New York and Louisiana have recently taken steps to control the practice.

It is that time of year again when many people will start getting out their barbecue grills. Gas, propane, charcoal…with so many available grills. Charcoal grills are known for making great steaks, but they’re also a mess to clean. Here are some things to consider before your next BBQ purchase.
Both the iPhone and Macbooks use capacitance technology for their touchscreens and trackpads, respectively. This means that, for an item to be used to control the device, it has to be a conductor; your finger will work, but a normal plastic stylus won’t. If you’re tired of using your fingers to select apps or draw on your trackpad, Ten One design has just the product for you: the Pogo Sketch.
SavySoda has launched its latest iPhone app, that is causing quite a rumble. iPhone owners can download this unique application that you won’t be able to use on the bus.
This free vibrating massage “resembles those stubby four-legged back and neck messagers you’d pick up at your local store, and you’d place the iPhone on your skin for a gentle, continuous jolt. But then you can swipe your finger to the right for a, um, longer and more narrow vibrator with a ball at the end [cough].”
Steve Jobs’ medical leave from Apple is likely to be permanent, analysts say.
In a letter to Apple staff on Wednesday, Jobs said he was taking a five-month medical leave because his health issues are “more complex than I originally thought.”
In the note, Jobs promised to return to Apple in the summer, which many are hoping is true.
“It’s dead, this is it, this is the last Christmas, without a doubt,” Distribution Video Audio co-owner Ryan Kugler told the L.A. Times. “I was the last one buying VHS and the last one selling it, and I’m done. Anything left in the warehouse we’ll just give away or throw away.”
She’s gorgeous, a great home keeper and never ever complains!
