At the beginning of the year, Tesla Motors had announced that by spring the company would be producing 30 of their all-electric luxury Roadsters weekly. Well, it’s spring, and the company is now saying it’s likely they’ll only reach that benchmark in the summertime: right now they’re making 20 per week. French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Thursday the state would put “a lot of money” into the struggling car industry.
“We are working with the car sector, car makers and their suppliers, to get out of this situation and to finalize a plan by the end of January,” Mr. Sarkozy said.
“That means that we will be ready to give the necessary support, in the form of loans or guarantees, to compensate for the blockage in the financing of companies…but we will clearly ask them for an end to offshoring, and even the reinforcement of their activities in France,” he said.

Think you’re environmentally conscious, and/or badass? Some residents of Montreal, a city with one of the highest snowfall rates in the world, actually bike in winter. They claim it’s faster, cheaper, etc. However, driving a car in these conditions is difficult enough without having to manoeuvre around cyclists as well. They really are taking dangerous chances. These Montreal cyclists are hoping the city will make it easier for them ride their bikes during the snowy months - for example, by leaving street racks around all year. They do thank the city for their efforts up to this point, which have included opening winter bicycle lanes, which are called the “white network.” Read more…
