I’m actually surprised that it took this long for someone to die on this show… read more about the tragedy from MSN.com:

In the latest deadly reality show incident, a contestant died last week after suffering a stroke. He was injured while performing a stunt on ABC’s physically grueling hit series “Wipeout,” TheWrap has learned.

Tom Sparks, 33, a recent graduate of the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, was rushed from the northern Los Angeles set of the show to a local hospital two weeks ago. Sparks later was transfered to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where doctors performed several brain surgeries.

But doctors ultimately decided there was too much brain damage, and he couldn’t be saved, according an email sent to alumni by an Annenberg faculty member.

Sparks died Nov. 5.

The death highlights an emerging challenge for the increasingly dominant nonfiction TV business, which relies heavily on everyday individuals, often placed in difficult situations. Despite what the industry describes as rigorous vetting procedures, deeper physical and psychological issues are often hard to detect.

Get an idea of the “wipeouts” from the show in this video… I wonder how many neck injuries they keep under wraps?

In the latest comedy from Broken Lizard, (the creators of Supertroopers and Beerfest) “Slammin” Cleon Salmon (Michael Clarke Duncan) is a former Heavyweight Champion of the World turned celebrity owner of a high end Miami seafood restaurant, The Slammin’ Salmon.

A terrifying bull of a man, Salmon uses fear to rule over his misfit waitstaff (Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik  Stolhanske, as well as Cobie Smulders and April Bowlby) and on this particular night, he takes his bullying skills to a new level.  In an effort to pay off a gambling debt to the Japanese Yakuza, Salmon sets up a contest to ‘inspire’ his waitstaff to sell more food than they ever have before: the top selling server wins $10,000 while the waiter in last place gets served with a broken rib sandwich—courtesy of the Champ himself.

Spurred on by greed and panic, the staff resort to backstabbing, bribery and indecent proposals in an attempt to upsell their patrons while simultaneously sabotaging their co-workers. As the hours pass, the dining room action becomes more frenzied as the contest escalates into a brawl for first place in order to win the money.

This 3 and a half minute trailer should give you a better idea of the plot and some of the supporting characters.  The CGI still doesn’t look “game-changing”, but its still impressive and the film definitely looks like a fun ride… Not sure about that dialog though…  oh well, check out the brand new trailer from Yahoo!:

Jason Bourne goes to Iraq?  But seriously, this is directed by Paul Greengrass who directed the last 2 Bourne movies, so it will probably be pretty good.  Here’s the first look:

It seems like Nic Cage won’t say no to any movie role he is offered? Season Of The Witch looks… weird.  Check out the brand new teaser trailer from IGN.com:

In the supernatural thriller Season of the Witch, Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence.

A priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a grieving knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an itinerant swindler (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth who can only dream of becoming a knight (Robert Sheehan) join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl.

When the embattled party arrives at the abbey, a horrific discovery jeopardizes the knight’s pledge to ensure the girl fair treatment, and pits them against an inexplicably powerful and destructive force.

With Spike fresh off the release of Where The Wild Things Are and Kanye fresh off a retarded appearance at the MTV awards this short film “We Were Once A Fairytale” is surprisingly relevant and oddly poignant.  At this point I’m not sure who’s a weirder person, director or actor, but rest assured that weirdness abounds.  Watch:
