Reuniting for the first time since they appeared together in Kill Bill, David Carradine and Darryl Hannah are starring in Spike TV’s two-part original miniseries, Kung Fu Killer. The miniseries premieres Sunday, August 17 and Monday, August 18 (10:00 PM – Midnight ET/PT) on Spike in HD. We also have a limited quality of screeners if you are interested.
Set in late 1920s in China, before Communist rule, Kung Fu Killer tells the story of White Crane (Carradine), an orphaned son of Western missionaries who was raised as a Wudang monk to become a spiritual leader and master in martial arts, and his ultimate journey for revenge and justice. Beginning in the Shanghai underworld, Crane encounters Jane Marshall (Hannah) a lounge singer from Brooklyn, who is on a mission of her own to find her lost brother.
As always, Spike TV delivers the action but the story also shifts gears to a more personal drama.
From Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney and producer Graydon Carter comes a probing look into the uncanny life of national treasure and gonzo journalism inventor Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. A fast moving, wildly entertaining documentary with an iconic soundtrack, the film addresses the major touchstones in Thompson’s life—his intense and ill fated relationship with the Hell’s Angels, his near-successful bid for the office of sheriff in Aspen in 1970, the notorious story behind the landmark Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, his deep involvement in Senator George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign, and much more. Narrated by Johnny Depp and in select theaters on July 4th.
Paramount Pictures will become the first major studio to make thousands of movie clips available for use on the internet, launching its VooZoo application Monday on Facebook.

“The short clips for a movie that you’ve already seen before helps you relive the moment,” said Derek Broes, Paramount’s senior vice-president of entertainment.
Users of the popular social networking site will have access to footage from thousands of movies, including Forrest Gump and The Ten Commandments.
Facebook users can send the video clips to others users on the site.
The scenes last from a few seconds to a few minutes, covering everything from Audrey Hepburn’s monologue about her “no-name slob” of a cat in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to Eddie Murphy’s signature chuckle from Beverly Hills Cop.
DVDs of the movies will be offered for sale through a button that appears after each clip is played. Eventually, the studio will be using the same method to market upcoming films.
VooZoo is expected to attract a few hundred thousand users within its first two months.
“My benchmark for success is that people are joining and sending,” Broes said.
The task of selecting clips was time consuming. Paramount staffers worked for more than a year to archive and tag the clips being offered.
Paramount officials say they’re not sure how much they may reap through the experiment, and have no “revenue goals” attached to the project.

At the height of the Cold War, Sputnik almost provoked World War III, were it not for a private agreement between two ex-generals…
Historians say that there have been three great shocks that brought America to its knees. The events of Pearl Harbor, 9/11 and the launch of Sputnik. Narrated by actor Liev Schreiber, SPUTNIK MANIA reveals the dramatic and fast-moving story of what happened to America after the Soviet Union’s launch of the world’s first artificial satellite. Sputnik placed the U.S. and the USSR on a collision-course missile and space race. SPUTNIK MANIA is a journey that chronicles how quickly the swing from Americans’ initial thrill and awe turned to panic, fear and anxiety as leading politicians and the media whipped the public into an escalating mass frenzy. Perceived as evidence of an imminent attack by the Soviet Union, Sputnik not only created a deep fear among the American public, but also ushered in an era of remarkable educational, social and scientific developments with profound political and national-security implications for the United States and fascinating parallels to the present.
Sputnik Mania opens in New York City on March 14th at the IFC Center http://www.ifccenter.com/film?filmid=62762
