This looks fantastic. The best part is that its actually based on a true story… Watch the new trailer for The Men Who Stare At Goats starring George Clooney, Ewan MacGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges:
The movie is in theaters starting November 6th.
With Spike fresh off the release of Where The Wild Things Are and Kanye fresh off a retarded appearance at the MTV awards this short film “We Were Once A Fairytale” is surprisingly relevant and oddly poignant. At this point I’m not sure who’s a weirder person, director or actor, but rest assured that weirdness abounds. Watch:
Everything Must Go could either be really good, or really bad. Let’s hope we see more of a “Stranger than Fiction” Will as opposed to a “Step Brothers” Will… Read more on this from MovieFone.com:
After starring in blockbuster movies such as ‘Land of the Lost’ and ‘Step Brothers,’ actor/comedian Will Ferrell is going the indie route with ‘Everything Must Go,’ an independent film based on the short story by Raymond Carver.
The movie, set to start shooting next March, marks the directorial debut of Dan Rush, whose previous work has been with humorously themed commercials. The script, Rush’s first screenplay, sees Ferrell as a man who loses his job and gets locked out of the house by his wife. After she throws all his belongings on the front lawn, Ferrell spends the next few days living on the lawn and selling his possessions to make ends meet.
The script was recently featured on The Black List, a list of the most popular unproduced screenplays of the year as ranked by development executives, which led Rush to numerous meetings with leading men before Ferrell signed on. Rush had been offered other development deals, but declined them in lieu of making ‘Go.’
While Ferrell is mostly known for his over-the-top, sophomoric brand of humor, producer Marty Bowen insists the comedian can display the gravitas needed for a more serious role. “Will is one of the best at making an audience sympathize with a character’s ordeal, and the blending and comedy in this script will show a side of him that we haven’t really seen before,” Bowen recently told Variety.
The original story is far from a comedy, and to pull this one off, we’re hoping Ferrell delves in the same emotional waters he used to portray Harold Crick in 2006’s criminally underrated ‘Stranger Than Fiction.’ Despite the role, Ferrell isn’t exactly abandoning his big-budget status anytime soon. The actor is currently shooting ‘The Other Guys,’ an action/comedy with Mark Wahlberg and Michael Keaton, set for release next summer.
Arguably one of the most versatile directors in the business, Spike Jonze jumps regularly from music videos to commercials to Oscar-nominated films. He even had a main role acting alongside George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg in 1999’s “Three Kings.” In this video, WatchMojo.com takes a look at the highlights of Spike Jonze’s still young career.
You know you have an identifiable film-making style when even a stop-motion animation movie has the look and feel of a Wes Anderson movie! This looks “fantastic”:
I will go see any movie that features Philip Seymour Hoffman, and so should you. Here’s the trailer for a new one called Pirate Radio and it looks awesome:
Pirate Radio is the high-spirited story of how 8 DJs love affair with Rock n Roll changed the world forever. In the 1960s this group of rouge DJs, on a boat in the middle of the Northern Atlantic, played rock records and broke the law all for the love of music. The songs they played united and defined an entire generation and drove the British government crazy. By playing Rock n Roll they were standing up against the British government who did everything in their power to shut them down. The band of rebels is lead by The Count, played by the Academy Award Winning Philip Seymour Hoffman, Quentin the boss of Radio Rock, Gavin the greatest DJ in Britian, Midnight Mark, Doctor Dave and Young Carl who comes of age amidst the chaos of sex, drugs and rock n roll. The film features an unbelievable selection of music including The Beatles, The Stones, Beach Boys, Dusty Springfield, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Smokey Robinson, David Bowie, Otis Redding, Cat Stevens just to name a few. The film is laugh out loud funny and speaks to the rock n roll rebel in all of us.

Paul Aufiero (PATTON OSWALT), a 35-year-old parking garage attendant from Staten Island, is the self-described “world’s biggest New York Giants fan.” He lives at home with his mother (MARCIA JEAN KURTZ), spending his off hours calling in to local sports-radio station 760 The Zone, where he rants in support of his beloved team, often against his mysterious on-air rival, Eagles fan Philadelphia Phil (MICHAEL RAPAPORT). His family berates him for doing nothing with his life, but they don’t understand the depth of his love of the Giants or the responsibility his fandom carries. One night, Paul and his best friend Sal (KEVIN CORRIGAN) spot Giants star linebacker Quantrell Bishop (JONATHAN HAMM) at a gas station in their neighborhood. They impulsively follow his limo into Manhattan, to a strip club, where they hang in the background, agog at their hero. Paul cautiously decides to approach him, stepping into the rarefied air of football stardom — and things do not go as planned. The fallout of this chance encounter brings Paul’s world crashing down around him as his family, the team, the media and the authorities engage in a tug of war over Paul, testing his allegiances and calling into question everything he believes in. Meanwhile, the Giants march toward a late-season showdown with the Eagles, unaware that sometimes the most brutal struggles take place far from the field of play.
Following up his first filmed screenplay (“The Wrestler”), writer-director Robert Siegel once again demonstrates a unique and potent vision of the human experience, in all of it its harsh truths and hopeful humanity. Check out the trailer:
