DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ — Preparing for the holidays can be quite an undertaking. From selecting the right gifts and decorations to planning and preparing the big family meal, there are many components that go into creating the perfect holiday season. Yet according to a new survey from The SENSEO Coffee System®, America’s preferred single-serve coffee system, the right cup of coffee can cap off a perfect holiday gathering. Forty-three (43) percent of respondents agree that a good cup of coffee is an important part of a holiday meal, 54 percent believe that serving flavored coffee makes guests feel special, and 62 percent of respondents believe a good cup of coffee makes dessert time special.
“Great coffee is more than just a quick pick-me-up; it can put an exclamation point on a meal or an entire occasion,” said Philippe Schaillee, vice president of breakfast and snacking for Sara Lee Food & Beverage. “Whether it’s a particular flavor or just the fact that it is gourmet, offering a variety of coffee options shows guests that their host has taken the extra step to put on a perfect meal.”
In addition, 60 percent of survey respondents indicated they would like to receive a gourmet kitchen appliance such as a special coffee maker as a gift for the holidays, with 46 percent of respondents indicating that they would put a gourmet coffee maker on display if they received one.
“It comes as no surprise that nearly two-thirds of our respondents would like to receive a gourmet coffee maker this holiday season,” Schaillee added. “Sounds like a perfect idea for a gift!”
According to the survey, consumers have strong impressions of gourmet coffee. Sixty-three (63) percent describe it as international; 63 percent describe it as a treat for special occasions; and, 49 percent characterize gourmet coffee as sophisticated.
“The survey tells us that consumers understand gourmet coffee is a practical indulgence, one that they can enjoy every day or reserve for sharing with special guests at special times,” explains Schaillee.
