Yesterday was a beautiful day in Ottawa. I basked in the sun, as I changed the tires on my 92 Corolla, so you know I got that dirt under my fingernails.
I’ve been doing some spring cleaning, so I’ve got a treasure trove of goodies to give away! See the contest at bottom.
1. The Pimp Juice connection…
2. The CBC Interview…
3. DJ Ducats Mixtape…

2. The CBC Interview…
——————————————————————–
Last week, Brockway Biggs talked to Paul Castle of CBC NB’s “Shift” about his Pimp Juice link up, name change & more.
The interview turned out real nice, with lots of insight into the mind of Brockway Biggs… Take a listen to the interview in one of two ways:

3. DJ Ducats - Bunker Mix
——————————————————————–
I linked up with Ottawa’s Addaboe to record a nice little track called ‘D-U-C-A-T-S Power’ for DJ Ducats’ latest mix. I got the idea for the chorus after listening to an old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cassette of mine. Ducats’ full ‘Bunker Mix’ can be downloaded here or…

———————————-
I’ve decided to postpone my Atlantic Canada tour until spring 2008 so I can lower my stress levels and up the album vibes! Business is business, but at the end of the day you still gotta be having fun with your music.
I also had a blast at Kelp Records 13th anniversary weekend! It was such a great fun, fresh, family vibe! I made some new fans, friends and fell in love with a new band - The Flaps!
Wishing you all inflated spring time tires,
Troy aka Brockway Biggs

Kalan Asks “Who Are You Running For?” at the 2007 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure
(July 6, 2007 – Toronto, ON) Kalan Porter’s Wake Up Living, the follow up to his double Platinum selling debut album titled 219 days, will be released by SONY BMG MUSIC (CANADA) INC. on Tuesday, August 28, 2007. “Down in Heaven” is already Top 30 at Hot A/C radio with adds across the country.
One of the most anticipated albums of the year, Wake Up Living was mixed and produced at Cookie Jar Studio in Studio City, LA by famed producer Brian Malouf (Pink, Everclear, Dave Matthews Band, Bon Jovi.) Kalan co-wrote over half of the album including “Karma King” with Peter Zizzo (Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Diana Ross) and “Destination (Where I belong)” co-written with Rob Wells (Backstreet Boys, Nick Lachey, Matt Dusk.)
“I had a lot of experiences carrying into the second album,” Porter says. “Writing became very therapeutic, giving me an outlet to let out my emotions and process what happened to my family over the last two years.”
After a 65 date, sold-out cross Canada tour, Kalan’s life changed when he received news that his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Upon returning to the studio, Kalan was able to share his experiences, especially noted on the first single “Down in Heaven”, to which he contributed lyrics. The single is an empowering song about perseverance and hope, co-written with Ashley Gorley (Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood) and Chris Farren (Paul Brandt, Westlife.)
This led him to lend his voice to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the leading national volunteer-based organization in Canada dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer. The Foundation raises funds for quality breast cancer research, education and awareness programs. Kalan says that after learning of his mother’s diagnosis, he was grateful for the work of the Foundation and the difference it was making in his family’s life. On September 30, Kalan will be participating in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. He invites others across the country to join Team Kalan Porter in support of the cause by registering online at www.cbcf.org and clicking through to Team Kalan Porter.
Kalan will be kick-starting the launch of his album with a special appearance this summer on CTV’s Canadian Idol.
With a double Platinum album, an eight times Platinum debut single, which won the best-selling single debut ever for a Canadian artist and award recognitions including a MuchMusic Video Award and 2006 JUNO nominations for “Album Of The Year”, “Artist Of The Year” and “Pop Album Of The Year”, Kalan’s success story is only beginning!
