‘HARD CANDY’ DELICIOUS NEW MADONNA ALBUM SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED ON WARNER BROS. RECORDS APRIL 29th

Madonna’s 11th studio album for Warner Bros. Records “HARD CANDY” is scheduled to have a global release on April 28th and a US release on April 29th, it was confirmed by her label. “HARD CANDY” (the follow up to Madonna’s “CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR” which debuted at No. 1 in 30 countries and sold over 8 million copies), has been described as a brilliant up-tempo collection of 12 songs in which Madonna remains ensconced in club mode but this time adds an urban hip hop beat in collaboration with musical partners Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes and Nate “Danja” Hills. The debut single, the pulsating “4 Minutes” will be released at the end of March.

“The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness…kind of like I’m gonna kick your ass but it’s going to make you feel good. And of course, I love candy” laughed the material girl.

Madonna, a multi-Grammy-award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, cultural icon, world renowned stage performer, video visionary, children’s book author, director and documentary film maker has sold 200 million albums in the course of her unprecedented two decade plus career and is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10th.

Hear Music announced today that it has signed renowned singer-songwriter Carly Simon to release This Kind of Love, her highly anticipated first album of all-original songs in eight years. She joins the elite roster of Hear Music artists that includes Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. The album will be released at Starbucks Company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada as well as traditional music retail on April 29, 2008.

This Kind of Love ranks among Simon’s most personal albums as well as one of her most stylistically diverse excursions with songs ranging from gorgeous melodies to driving rhythms. The CD is co-produced by Simon, Frank Filipetti and Jimmy Webb who also wrote or co-wrote most of the arrangements. Filipetti worked his talent as the engineer as well as producer. The three first teamed up for Film Noir, Simon’s album of standards that Webb produced in 1997.

The musical inspiration of the CD comes from Simon’s fascination with Brazilian music, whose rhythms are subtly infused throughout. Even though she grew up listening to such classic artists as Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfa, it was Simon’s recent discovery of modern-day Brazilian musicians Caetano Veloso and Jorge Ben that made her realize “you don’t have to be singing bossa nova or samba to get the essence [of Brazilian music]. There are songs that fit no one rhythm or generic type or song progression.”

New York, NY – Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown recording artist Lil Wayne is gearing up to release his highly anticipated album Tha Carter III, the final in the trilogy, on May 13th.

Tha Carter III is Lil Wayne’s first solo album since the release of Tha Carter II (2005) and not one to disappoint Lil Wayne is bringing a new flavor to everyone’s taste buds with the release of his first single, “Lollipop,” featuring Static. “Lollipop,” which was produced by Jim Jonsin (T.I., T-Pain, Twista) and co-produced by Darius “Deezle” Harrison (Teena Marie & Destiny’s Child), is receiving early radio spins in major markets including San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Atlanta, and officially impacted at both Urban and Crossover Radio on March 25th.

Lil Wayne was born and raised in the infamous poverty-stricken section of New Orleans - the 17th Ward, was discovered by Cash Money founder Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams and rose to stardom in 1995 at the age of 12, debuting on B.G’s True Story CD. Shortly thereafter, the rap prodigy garnered national attention as a member of the group, Hot Boys, which consisted of rappers Juvenile, Turk and B.G., with their 1997 debut album, Get It How You Live, followed by 1998’s platinum certified Guerilla Warfare and 2003’s Let Em Burn.

Success continued to follow Lil Wayne as a solo artist. His debut CD, Tha Block Is Hot (1999) reached platinum status and was a #1 Billboard Album. He later released Lights Out (2000), 500Degreez (2002), and his defining album, 2004’s platinum certified, Tha Carter, which featured the hit single “Go DJ.” His critically acclaimed, platinum-plus follow-up, Tha Carter II, 2005 debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top Albums chart, a groundbreaking and provocative tour de force which the New York Times hailed as ‘historic.’ Tha Carter III marks the sixth solo project from the Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown superstar.

Lil Wayne who was recently named “Man Of The Year” by GQ Magazine (2007) and “Best Rock Star Alive” by Blender Magazine (2008) is truly a force to be reckoned within the music industry and has earned the title of Hip-Hop Heavyweight Champ.

Nina Simone is widely regarded as one of the most important jazz and blues revolutionaries of all time. Not only was she a Grammy Award-nominated American singer, songwriter, pianist, and arranger, but she was also a staunch civil rights activist and voice for black America. On April 8th, a new collection of never before seen video and live tracks dubbed Protest Anthology will offer fans a look at the “High Priestess of Soul” as she really was both on and off stage.

Protest Anthology collects eight previously unreleased video interviews and 11 unheard live tracks of hit songs “Mississippi Goddamn,” “Backlash Blues,” “To Be Young, Gifted, and Black,” and more in one package. These very rare interviews and recordings are finally being unearthed, under exclusive license from her ex-husband Andy Stroud. The first volume of a five-release series, these tracks contain some of Nina Simone’s most political statements ever captured, and truly sum up her strong viewpoints on being black in America during the 1960s, viewpoints that surely would have been controversial in her time.

In her lifetime, Nina Simone recorded over 40 live and studio albums, spanning the genres of jazz, soul, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop music, and setting the stage for future generations of artists including Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, and many more.

LOST HIGHWAY SET TO RELEASE TROUBLE IN MIND

FROM SINGER/SONGWRITER HAYES CARLL ON APRIL 8

HUMANITY, HUMILITY AND HUMOR HIGHLIGHT DISTINCTIVE SONGS

Nashville, TN – After a debut indie release and an acclaimed self-released sophomore album, singer/songwriter Hayes Carll has found a home at Lost Highway. Trouble In Mind, Carll’s Lost Highway debut will be released on April 8, featuring a collection of songs that blend some of the finest elements of folk, country and rock with brainy, quirky lyrics.

The 32-year-old Texan delivers songs born of baptism-by-fire experience, world weary observations and sharp wit. While his songs draw a direct line from some of his legendary Texas heroes such as Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Carll has managed to put a stamp on his music that is truly his own.

As a performer, Carll’s clever anecdotes, genuine sincerity and self-deprecating humor invites listeners in. His confidence and charisma are second only to the quality of his songwriting. Audiences relate to his songs because he sings to them as friends, immediately breaking down any barrier that might normally exist between the stage and audience.

Carll’s personality permeates all of the songs on Trouble In Mind. He makes this quite clear in the infectious melody of “It’s A Shame”, the ragged throw down “Bad Liver and a Broken Heart”, the satirical “She Left Me For Jesus”, and even in his rendition of Tom Waits’ “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up”.

Carll has already begun making fans in the US and overseas through his first releases and his relentless touring. Take a step into the world of Hayes Carll through Trouble In Mind and find out what many already know and many others are about to discover.
