Omaha, NE’s tap dancing five-piece,  Tilly and the Wall, will be performing on the premiere episode of the newly revamped 90210, which airs on September 2nd on The CW.  The band will be performing their song “Pot Kettle Black” from their incredible album with no title, simply called O due to the frame on its cover, which is out now on Team Love Records.

In addition to their appearance on 90210, where the band performs at a character’s not-so-sweet sixteen, Tilly and the Wall also performed in a music video acquired by Sesame Street to use in their upcoming 39th season, which starts this fall.  The band recorded their own version of the ABC song, and the result is nothing short of magical.

Lastly, Tilly and the Wall will be hitting the road for select shows this September with Brazil’s CSS.  The two bands, both of whom are known for their amazing live performances, have toured together many times in Europe, and will no doubt create a show that is not to be missed.

Some praise for Tilly and the Wall’s newest album, O

“The robust instrumentation, flawless harmonies and gorgeous layers on their third album, O, cut their youthful exuberance with a more mature sonic vision via sophisticated arrangements…”
– Venus, Summer 2008

“Tilly and the Wall have managed to at once cradle the heart of America and dance their way out of it.”
– Nylon, June/July 2008

“O finds Tilly and the Wall perfecting the art of looking at the world through rose-colored glasses – without losing their inherent sweetness or zest for music’s restorative qualities. (4 stars)” – Alternative Press, June 2008

The Gabe Dixon Band has just released the music video for their piano-rock single “Till You’re Gone.”  Director Paul Cummings used stop-motion animation to help bring a human piano to life and showcase Dixon’s talent on the keys.

Today marks the Nashville-based trio’s release of their self-titled album.  Their Fantasy Records’ debut was already deemed one of Paste Magazine’s favorite records of the year, and Dixon’s vocal talent and piano chops have been praised by fellow musicians across the board including Sara Bareilles and Jamie Cullum.  Dan Wilson (Semisonic, Dixie Chicks) co-wrote three songs on the album that features a variety of tracks from heartfelt ballads to pop piano jams in the spirit of Elton John and Ben Folds 5.  Check it out on iTunes here.

The group Cookin Soul has taken it upon themselves to up the ante in this so called “Feud”.  They’ve mashed up a bunch of Oasis and Jay-z songs into a new album called Ojayzis.  Some are so/so, some are pretty cool… The “ignorant shit” and “girl in the dirty shirt” mix called “Ignorant Shirt” is particularly cool, although I’m not sure what happened to Liam’s vocals?

Talk about detonating on impact. The Illusion of Progress, the new album from Flip/Atlantic recording artists Staind, rocketed onto the Billboard 200 this week at #3, making it the fourth consecutive album of the band’s career to debut in the top 3.

News of the album’s explosive arrival follows a flurry of headline-making moves for the multi-platinum band, who recently teamed with online retailer Amazon.com for an innovative pre-release promotion, and have been on a worldwide summer tour, to be followed by a run in Europe with Nickelback in September, and headlining dates with special guests Seether and Papa Roach beginning October 4th at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Fans can go to www.staind.com for ticket information.

The Illusion of Progress is being propelled by chart-topping lead single “Believe,” currently #2 at Modern Rock, #5 at Active Rock, and #4 at Mainstream Rock. The song has already begun crossing over to the Hot AC charts with a debut at #34.  “Believe” is Staind’s fastest-growing hit since “It’s Been Awhile.”

The Illusion of Progress is Staind’s sixth album and the follow-up to 2005’s certified platinum Chapter V. The album was produced by Johnny K and recorded in Lewis’ home studio with guitarist  Mike Mushok , drummer Jon Wysocki, and bassist Johnny April.
