Alex Chilton died yesterday of a suspected heart attack at the age of 59. He was singer/guitarist for the influential and under-appreciated 1970’s band Big Star. Ten Reasons why “Telephone” Is Dope
Broken Bells is a new band made up of James Mercer from The Shins and Producer/Jedi Danger Mouse. It seems like an odd combination when you factor in some of Danger Mouse’s previous collaborations such as his work with Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley and MF Doom to name a few, but he’s also produced an album for the Black Keys and has proved that he’s adept at adapting his talents to a huge variety of musical styles. For any fan of The Shins, Mercer’s voice is instantly recognizable in the lead single “The High Road” and his vocals drive the song forward, but Danger Mouses finger prints are definitely all over production highlighted by the bleepy electronic sounds and steady beats. The collaboration is an interesting one and apparently arose due to the fact that each artist was a fan of the other. I’m curious to see if they will move beyond this initial album. Check out the single, continue reading...

Read more about the incident below from ChartAttack and check out an interview WatchMojo recently did with the band: continue reading...
