When dashing Danish duo The Raveonettes released In And Out Of Control to the masses last month, fans lucky enough to purchase the record from select indie retailers were rewarded with an exclusive bonus disc featuring “Planes Do Crash” and “The Chosen One,” two never-before-heard tracks. RecordStoreDay.com powered the promotion, pointing exclusive-hunters to retailers where the bonus disc was available. Of course, it was a “while supplies last” deal, so only a handful are still available (check out the website for details). But just as the stockpile begins to run low, RSD.com is offering up one of the songs — the jittery soda-shop stomp “The Chosen One” — for free. Fans who missed out on the physical goods can snag both exclusives when they buy the full album from ThinkIndie.com.

Man, STP is really the band that never dies! Read more on this from Ultimate-Guitar.com:
Stone Temple Pilots spent the last few months working on a new studio album with producer Don Was. The band currently has tour dates through the beginning of 2010, after which the group is expected to resume recording the CD for a tentative spring/summer release.
“When we get back, we’re going to finish the album,” singer Scott Weiland tells Spinner.com. “And then when we finish the album, there will be a big tour around its release and that will probably be a long tour.”
The upcoming release of Pilots’ sixth studio album and first since 2001’s “Shangri-La-Dee-Da” has been complicated by a contractual dispute between Weiland, drummer Eric Kretz and STP’s label, Atlantic Records.
Stone Temple Pilots were reactivated in 2008 after a six-year layoff, during which time Weiland recorded two albums with Velvet Revolver before being dismissed in April 2008.
Weiland issued a second solo effort, called “Happy In Galoshes”, last November and has been touring on his own behind that release.
Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Self-recorded in their own PA studio, Slim & Slender is the brand new 4-song EP by jubilant pop sextet The Spinto Band. The vinyl and digital only collection, out this week via Park The Van, gives us a little taste of what we can expect from the band’s next LP, also self-recorded, which is due out in 2010. Possibly some of the band’s best material yet, Slim & Slender includes extended instrumental explorations and a bouncy cover of the theme from Terry Gilliam’s Brazil.
The guys will also be heading out on the Park The Van Fall Tour in a few weeks, hitting stages along the east coast and Midwest with label-mates The Generationals and Pepi Ginsberg. Grab the EP’s lead-off track below, and get ready to catch The Spinto Band in a city near you!

AFI’s forthcoming CRASH LOVE will receive an exclusive first airing in its entirety on MySpace (www.myspace.com/afi) on September 22 and 23. The full album will also be up for listening at the band’s own www.afireinside.net site a day later.
CRASH LOVE will be released September 29 on DGC/Interscope. First single “Medicate,” for which the band is currently shooting a video, is already available on iTunes both as a single download and as part of an 18-song CRASH LOVE deluxe edition featuring multiple bonus tracks both from the CRASH LOVE sessions and the AFI vaults.
AFI recently added another leg of dates to its first series of live shows in the U.S. since its July 7, 2007 Live Earth appearance. The tour commences October 2 in Minneapolis with additional dates running up through a November 22 appearance at Stubbs Amphitheater in Austin, TX.
Produced by Joe McGrath and Jacknife Lee, CRASH LOVE is AFI’s eighth album and arguably the band’s most focused, direct and ambitious effort to date. CRASH LOVE follows up two consecutive platinum AFI albums, 2006’s DECEMBERUNDERGROUND which entered the U.S. chart at #1 and 2003’s SING THE SORROW.

Hailed by Spin as “one of the catchiest songs of Alice In Chains’ history,” lead single “Check My Brain” has blanketed rock and alternative radio and rocketed straight to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock Songs Chart and No. 1 on the R&R Rock Chart.
The riff-driven track appears on the band’s highly anticipated new album, Black Gives Way To Blue (Virgin/EMI), available September 29th. Playboy gave the disc four stars, calling it “Alice In Chains’ Back In Black,” Revolver praised the record for its “dense tapestry of heavy guitars and soaring melodies” and Reuters wrote “the heavy guitars, submerged vocals and thunderous rhythm section assures fans that the band has lost none of its menace.”
The “Check My Brain” video premiered yesterday on MTV2’s “Unleashed,” airing every hour on the hour. It also debuted on MTVu, as well as on MTVMusic.com, MTV2.com and MTVu.com. The clip was directed by Alex Courtes, whose credits include U2’s “Vertigo,” Wolfmother’s “Woman” and the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.” The video can be seen here:
The band (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, guitarist/vocalist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez) has been previewing songs from the album during their current sold-out buzz tour, which wraps September 30th at the Avalon in Los Angeles.
