Bubblegum pop artists ruled the charts at the beginning of the new millennium, with Britney, Backstreet and *NSync leading the pack. It didn’t take long for these acts to fall out of favor, and rock, rap, hip-hop and R&B took their place. Names like Nickelback, Kanye West and Black Eyed Peas were everywhere. Award shows were not to be missed, with gay and lesbian kisses, stage crashers and nightmare performances aplenty. The decade ended on a sad note, however, when the King of Pop passed away. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com reviews these and more musical milestones from the first decade of the new millennium. continue reading...
Once again I’ll throw my favorite 20 albums of 2009 into the mix of the 9 billion year end lists out there. Remember that these are NOT necessarily the 20 “best” albums of the year, but the 20 albums that I personally enjoyed the most. There’s also a great chance I’ve missed a few albums that I sincerely loved around 10 months ago, but the list is finished and I don’t give a shit! continue reading...
There aren’t many details yet, but The Magnetic Fields will be releasing a new album on January 26th called Realism. This will be the bands 9th full length album and first since 2008’s Distortion. Check out the tracklist below and the band performing a classic tune from their back catalog. continue reading...
Dead Man’s Bones is not a new movie for Ryan Gosling, but a curious new musical side project that really doesn’t sound like any A-list(B+ list?) Hollywood actor’s band that you’ve ever heard before. This is no vanity project where the actor is living our his rock star dreams with a crappy band (Keanu?), but more like a creative art project that is dark, interesting and entirely unexpected. Recent live shows have featured local choir ensembles made up of children and the first video they’ve created is as bizarre as it gets. Full marks to Gosling and his bandmate Zach Shields for creating something different, strange and enjoyable. Check out the video for “Dead Hearts” below and be sure to visit their MySpace page for more music, continue reading...
Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Norah Jones will release The Fall, her fourth studio album on Blue Note Records on November 17, 2009. Jones wrote nearly all of the songs in the past two years since completing tours in support of her 2007 global chart-topping, U.S. double-platinum album Not Too Late. continue reading...
The Avett Brothers are a unique band of 2 brothers who play a fusion of Bluegrass, Punk and Rock who are set to release their major label debut I and Love and You, which was produced by super producer Rick Rubin. That’s right, the same guy who produced records for Jay-Z, Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few. The band definitely has something special going on and word is that their live show is transcendent. The album is officially released on September 29th, but you can listen to it in advance over at NPR.org. continue reading...

Paolo Nutini is a mystery. Obviously a talented singer/songwriter, its very hard to pin him down to one genre and his new music video for “Coming Up Easy” doesn’t do anything to help define him. Unless you expected to see him hanging out with a gigantic white rabbit… Watch the new video: continue reading...
