From Q4Music.com:

Kings Of Leon frontman Caleb Followill has revealed he struggled with anorexia as a teenager, developing an obsession with trying to lose weight.

In an interview for the latest edition of Q – on sale now – the singer-guitarist tells how he was forever exercising to trim down his wiry frame or finding ways to take his mind off eating. Followill joins a large band of well-known figures who have confessed to eating disorders over the years including Billie Piper who wrote in her autobiography about how she would eat paper to take away hunger pangs.

In the interview the musician admits to having difficulties with his self image: “I always thought I wasn’t good enough.”

To combat what he saw as a weight problem, he said he would do press-ups until he couldn’t go on and would go running run on blisteringly hot days wearing a heavy tracksuit to shift the excess.

He would also drink coffee constantly. “Anything to keep my hands and mouth busy without eating,” he said

The phase ended when he began to smoke marijuana, he said, and gave in to the associated munchies. Now he has brought his desire to exercise constantly under control although he would prefer be a little more bulked up.

“I want to look like I can defend myself. I want a guy to look at me in a bar and know that he can’t talk shit to me or run me over, even though he probably could,” Followill added.
