Dr. Dog’s Fate is now available in stores! Much like 2007’s We All Belong, this long-awaited follow-up invites comparisons to rock faves The Beach Boys and the Beatles, but in the words of Vanity Fair, “Fate adds up to something completely original.”  Hear all 11 tracks for yourself on the band’s MySpace page and at AOL’s Spinner.com and head over to iTunes for an extra special version of the album including two bonus tracks – “The Dearly Departed” and “Drop Me Off” – a bonus video for “From,” and a digital booklet for only $7.99.

Put the money saved towards (quickly selling out) tix to one of the band’s 33 remaining shows – including two rescheduled NYC dates originally planned for this week. The shows have been moved to late August following the Midwest and West Coast legs of the tour, and all tix already purchased for this week’s shows will be honored for the new events.

Dr. Dog are more than just Philly faves these days. Since releasing We All Belong in early 2007, the five piece are loved coast to coast and have caught the eyes and ears of MTV, Billboard, Pitchfork, The Fader, Spin Magazine, and LA Times just to name a few. New album Fate, due July 22nd on Park the Van Records, is poised to propel the Dr. Dog (summer of) love fest even further. Now Yahoo Music has tapped the group for their User’s Choice feature – a competition throwing four up and coming bands into the pit and giving fans the authority to decide which is crowned “Who’s Next” winner of the month.

Click here to vote for the band, and while you’re at it tune your DVR to NBC for Thursday’s Conan O’ Brien appearance, just 5 days before the album hits stores – including a bonus version with two extra tracks and a never-before-seen video on iTunes.

Dr. Dog will release a collection of rare tracks on March 4th via Park the Van Records. Initially released as unmastered streaming audio on the band’s website, www.weallbelong.net, the ten re-mastered tracks on Passed Away are a lo-fi assortment of 4-track recordings made over the past five years leading up to and surrounding their 2007 breakout album We All Belong. Passed Away is just Dr. Dog recording songs because that’s what they do, not for anyone but kind of for everyone at the same time.

We All Belong effectively launched Dr. Dog into the realm of critically acclaimed indie bands, earning them praise from Rollingstone Magazine (which placed them at the #39 spot in its Top 50 Albums of the Year), Entertainment Weekly, GQ Magazine, NPR’s World Café, and more. Since then, the band has spent the year on the road with the likes of Wilco and Dinosaur Jr. and headlined their own tour with labelmates The Teeth and The High Strung. iTunes users will receive a live video of We All Belong’s “Die, Die, Die” filmed during this time with purchase of Passed Away.

And while the material on Passed Away is a glance at Dr. Dog’s past, the band is currently hard at work on a new studio album to be released later this year. In the meantime, they’re also hitting the road for select tour dates in February and March.
