Dead Man’s Bones is not a new movie for Ryan Gosling, but a curious new musical side project that really doesn’t sound like any A-list(B+ list?) Hollywood actor’s band that you’ve ever heard before. This is no vanity project where the actor is living our his rock star dreams with a crappy band (Keanu?), but more like a creative art project that is dark, interesting and entirely unexpected. Recent live shows have featured local choir ensembles made up of children and the first video they’ve created is as bizarre as it gets. Full marks to Gosling and his bandmate Zach Shields for creating something different, strange and enjoyable. Hollywood hair metal dreamers Steel Panther have launched an all out attack on the pop mainstream with their newest video “Death to All But Metal”. Asserting their alpha male dominance with plenty of hairspray, spandex, and sick stage moves, Steel Panther have taken shots against anyone NOT flying the hair metal flag. Kanye West, Madonna, and 50-Cent are among the superstars targeted by lead singer Michael Starr’s wrath in the clip.
“Death to All But Metal” is an homage to Van Halen’s classic “Hot For Teacher” video and also features a cameo by smart mouth comedienne Sarah Silverman as the school principal.
Steel Panther’s new album, Feel The Steel, hits stores on 6/9. Check out Steel Panther’s new video for “Death To All But Metal” below:
Hmm… Lohan… “Bossy”? Sounds about right.
LINDSAY LOHAN is setting the stage for a major mass-media re-entry over the coming months. “Bossy,” the seductive and irresistibly rhythmic new track leaked from the yet-untitled upcoming album, recalling in form and attitude the street-flavored girl-group dance floor classics of the electro era, has drawn hundreds of thousands of youtube.com streams in barely a week, and a collective thumbs-up from young viewers.
This month, Lohan is also joining one of television’s most-admired ensemble casts in the season finale of the Emmy-winning ABC comedy Ugly Betty. Playing an old schoolmate and antagonist, Lohan will guest star in a plot arc that will start at the finale episode airing on May 22, and extend into the first five episodes of the series’ fall 2008 season.

“Bossy” was co-written by platinum Island/Def Jam singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and track producers Stargate (Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen), whose previous collaborations include the enormous worldwide hits “Unfaithful” by Rihanna, “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce and Ne-Yo’s own signature tune “So Sick.” Separately, Stargate are also the producers of such diverse all-format smashes as “Don’t Stop the Music” by Rihanna, “Beautiful Liar” by Beyonce and Shakira, “With You” by Chris Brown, “Bye Bye” by Mariah Carey, and “Wait For You” by Elliott Yamin.
Lindsay Lohan has four RIAA sales certifications, including a platinum album for her 2004 debut, the Billboard No. 4 album Speak, a gold certification for her second album, A Little More Personal (Raw), and a gold digital single award for “Rumors.”
Lohan’s films have grossed over $420 million in domestic box office, and include starring roles in Freaky Friday (earning a Golden Globe nomination), Mean Girls, and The Parent Trap, as well as ensemble parts in A Prairie Home Companion and Bobby.

I thought these guys were long finished? Who knew! Their 7th studio album is called Afterwords and features the new single, “Hollywood”. Check out the video and some of the new tunes below and read a few notes that lead singer Ed Roland has on the album:

COLLECTIVE SOUL - “Hollywood”
Audio:
COLLECTIVE SOUL - “Hollywood”
COLLECTIVE SOUL - “All That I Know”
COLLECTIVE SOUL: “New Vibration”
Here’s what Ed Roland has to say about Collective Soul and the band’s new album, Afterwords:
- On the art of the three minute pop song: “I don’t ever time my songs and it’s a joke among the band because I’ll say, ‘I wonder how long that is?’ And they’ll all go, ‘Three, three-and-a-half minutes.’ Maybe it’s attention deficit disorder. There’s nothing wrong with a long song. I just can’t write them.”
- On the song, “You’re All That I Know”: “That’s basically about my wife. We’ve been married a little over a year. She’s a wonderful woman. She changed my outlook on life and it’s my way of telling her she’s the one. ‘You’re all that I know when the sun goes down/ You’re all that I know when the sun comes rising like that devil in me.’ ”
- On the song, “Good Morning After All”: “That one I wrote for my Mom. The strength she showed us during the time when we lost our father. You keep going. What keeps her going is her faith. ‘You wake just to crawl/You stand just to fall/ But you say good morning after all.’ ”
