Check out this internet only version of the video for Jack’s Mannequin’s latest single, “Swim”. Stay tuned for an official version!
Jack’s Mannequin are creating a special music video for their powerful single “Swim.” The lyrics, music and video are about keeping hope alive and growing in the difficult times that the world is now facing. The video is designed to inspire strength, courage and perseverance in the face of all obstacles.
The band will be shooting a music video for “Swim” in June and want fans’ artwork in the video. Within the context of the song, the word “Swim” is used as a metaphor for “hope, perseverance, courage, determination and strength.” Andrew McMahon and the band are asking members of the fan community to create pieces of artwork that feature the word “Swim” and illustrate, in any way chosen, the meaning behind the word. They can be represented in an abstract or representational manner - any way the artist sees fit, in any medium the artist chooses!
Head over to JacksMannequin.com to find out all the submission details. Deadline for all artwork is May 29th.
Jack’s Mannequin are back with a new single from their highly-acclaimed album, The Glass Passenger. “Swim” features lead singer Andrew McMahon’s trademark expressive piano playing in a song about fighting for the goodness in life at all costs. With music as his emotional release, McMahon was able to inject the songs on the album with an uplifting positivity that engages everyone he meets.
“I want to be able to relate to people when I write songs,” he says. “Part of what’s driven me to make music is this idea of connection; taking my experiences and writing about them honestly, but in such a way that someone in a completely different situation can still relate to them.”
Catch Jack’s Mannequin on tour now with special guests Matt Nathanson & Erin McCarley and this summer with The Fray beginning June 12th. Visit JacksMannequin.com for more info.

Jack’s Mannequin will launch a headlining tour starting in Atlanta on October 14th, performing The Glass Passenger in its entirety. Andrew McMahon and the band have just finished a successful run supporting Paramore and are excited to play new material on the road. This fall tour, entitled “Hammers and Strings: An evening With Jack’s Mannequin and The Glass Passenger,” will be unique as the band chose to book small, intimate clubs instead of large theaters. Those fortunate enough to score a ticket will be treated to a one of a kind, very close and personal performance of the new record.

Stephenie Meyer, author of the best selling novel series Twilight, is set to direct Jack’s Mannequin’s new music video for “The Resolution”. Will there be vampires in the treatment? Check out the breaking news on MTV.com here to find out.
Jack’s Mannequin may not be releasing their sophomore album until September 30th, but their new EP, The Ghost Overground, is available on iTunes now. The 4-song EP features “The Resolution” and “Bloodshot,” two new songs off of The Glass Passenger. Additionally, it includes older tracks “Holiday From Real” (live from SIR) and “Kill The Messenger” (live from Rock Xentral). Catch the band on tour now with Paramore.
Jack’s Mannequin, led by singer-keyboardist Andrew McMahon, will release its second album, entitled The Glass Passenger, on September 30th, 2008 on Sire/Warner Bros. Records.
Co-produced by McMahon and Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank), The Glass Passenger is the follow-up to the band’s debut Everything in Transit, which was released in August 2005 and debuted at No. 37 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.
Like that album, The Glass Passenger was written and recorded over the course of nearly two years with McMahon going into the studio whenever inspiration struck. As a result, McMahon describes the album as “a bizarre balance between present and past. I was trying to use the music to sort through and reconcile with the adversity of my past.”
While The Glass Passenger is essentially autobiographical, the album is not meant to serve as a direct description of McMahon’s life. “My past is my past and a lot of this record is about that,” he says “but it’s also about trying to write myself out of it. This is a record about trying to get well. It’s about getting out from underneath something. I want people to receive the music for what it is and not have to contextualize it against my own personal battle.”
Teaser for The Glass Passenger:
Jack’s Mannequin, which McMahon formed in 2004 with guitarist Bobby Anderson, bassist Jonathan Sullivan, and drummer Jay McMillan in Orange County, CA, has been busy touring this year, including an appearance at the Bamboozle Festival in May. They have performed a series of acoustic shows on this year’s Vans Warped Tour, and will hit the road with Paramore on July 28th.
