Multi-platinum Grammy-nominated rock sensation Papa Roach has been scorching stages across the globe in support of their new release and fifth studio album Metamorphosis, which debuted at #8 on the Billboard Album Chart. Rolling Stone calls the album “hard-riffing and accessible” and Billboard lauds it as “polished and wide-ranging.” The band, which is Jacoby Shaddix (vocals), Tobin Esperance (bass), Jerry Horton (guitar) and Tony Palermo (drums), is fresh off a European run of sold out headlining and festival dates and will kick off their tour with fellow powerhouse Nickelback on July 10th at Darien Lake, NY.
In celebration of their 10 years of success, fans are treated to a decade of hit songs such as Top Ten multi-format smashes like “Last Resort,” “Forever,” “Getting Away With Murder,” “Scars” and “To Be Loved” during the electrifying live shows. Hit Parader raves, “Papa Roach’s live energy is like a pack of wild horses — unbridled and uncontainable.”
Shaddix explains, “Playing shows every night is what we’re built for. We make a club feel like an arena and we make an arena feel like a club. We’re going to tour our guts out and bring our music to fans all over the world.”
In addition to packing arenas, Papa Roach set the airwaves ablaze with Metamorphosis’ first single, the #1 Rock radio track, “Lifeline,” with second single “I Almost Told You That I Loved You” - which People Magazine called a “raunchy highlight” - fast on its heels climbing the charts.
The video for “Lifeline” shot by director Chris Sims (Queens of the Stone Age, Jimmy Eat World) was the #1 most played on Fuse and the #1 rock video on MTV2. The clip underscores the dire state of the global economy, which the band saw coming back in February 2008 when they were writing the album.
“While we were writing Metamorphosis, the band was very aware of the grave issue of our economy’s downward spiral,” says Shaddix. “It was literally right in front of us in my hometown of Sacramento with houses foreclosing and families left out in the cold, which inspired me to write the lyrics to ‘Lifeline.’ Other tracks on the album such as ‘Change or Die,’ ‘Had Enough’ and ‘March Out Of The Darkness’ also tap into the struggles so many people are facing in these difficult economic times.”
Papa Roach has been very active in support of Sacramento-based charity Loaves And Fishes, which helps the city’s homeless get food and shelter. Shaddix explains, “Sacramento has given so much to me and my band over the years, and the time is now to take care of each other.”

“We filmed the video in a broken down, beat down, old mental institution. It’s our first sexually-charged song, so we decided to make it sleazy, raw and a little twisted, so enjoy the ruckus.” - Papa Roach

Talk about detonating on impact. The Illusion of Progress, the new album from Flip/Atlantic recording artists Staind, rocketed onto the Billboard 200 this week at #3, making it the fourth consecutive album of the band’s career to debut in the top 3.
News of the album’s explosive arrival follows a flurry of headline-making moves for the multi-platinum band, who recently teamed with online retailer Amazon.com for an innovative pre-release promotion, and have been on a worldwide summer tour, to be followed by a run in Europe with Nickelback in September, and headlining dates with special guests Seether and Papa Roach beginning October 4th at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Fans can go to www.staind.com for ticket information.
The Illusion of Progress is being propelled by chart-topping lead single “Believe,” currently #2 at Modern Rock, #5 at Active Rock, and #4 at Mainstream Rock. The song has already begun crossing over to the Hot AC charts with a debut at #34. “Believe” is Staind’s fastest-growing hit since “It’s Been Awhile.”
The Illusion of Progress is Staind’s sixth album and the follow-up to 2005’s certified platinum Chapter V. The album was produced by Johnny K and recorded in Lewis’ home studio with guitarist Mike Mushok , drummer Jon Wysocki, and bassist Johnny April.
