Yesterday on Oprah Charla Nash, the woman who was brutally attacked by a chimpanzee and left without any facial features, revealed her face.

Although Nash lost her eyelides, lips, nose and eyes she has not lost her great outlook on life.

WatchMojo recently filmed an interview with famed photographer and documentary film director Louie Psihoyos about his recent endeavor, The Cove. This film documents a horrible dolphin slaughter which takes places in a remote area of Japan, and claims the lives of over 23 thousand of the mammals annually. You can learn more in our video:

The film’s hero is Ric O’Barry, who used to train the dolphins that played Flipper. He has been trying to raise awareness about this issue, and finally with The Cove, his cause has gained traction. So much so that he has now reported that the dolphin slaughter in Japan has been suspended. Traditionally, the practice starts up on 1 September every year, and when O’Barry returned to the scene of the crime, it was empty. Read more…

This is what 42 years of occupation does: In Gaza, Hamas Suddenly Become Moderates, from CNN:

Friday’s clashes were the latest between Gaza’s Hamas rulers, who have said they are moderate Muslims pledged to the Palestinian cause, and more extremist Islamic groups.

Jund Ansar Allah is part of the radical Islamist movement that follows the doctrines of the “Salaf,” or the predecessors — referring to the early generations of Muslims. They reject all modern influences such as politics and government.

An assassination plot against President Obama has been foiled in Turkey.  US officials are allegedly taking the threat “very seriously.”  However, the president did not need to change his schedule.  The man who had been planning the attack was arrested last week in Turkey.  Read more…

The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg offers an interesting excerpt from “A World Of Trouble,” a forthcoming book by Patrick Tyler on the White House and the Middle East:

A servant appeared with a bottle. Tenet knocked back some of the scotch. Then some more. They watched with concern. He drained half the bottle in a few minutes.
“They’re setting me up. The bastards are setting me up,” Tenet said, but “I am not going to take the hit.”

“According to one witness, he mocked the neoconservatives in the Bush administration and their alignment with the right wing of Israel’s political establishment, referring to them with exasperation as, “the Jews.”

Vice President Cheney has come out and said that the Iraq would have happened, regardless of the threat of weapons of mass destruction.  Now on MSNBC’s show Hardball, right-wing commentator Frank Gaffney has defended Cheney and the Bush administration’s  choice to invade Iraq, and Cheney’s remarks, by saying Saddam Hussein posed a “mortal threat” to America.

Host of the show, Chris Matthews, was appalled by Gaffney’s lack of remorse over the deaths of 4000 Americans in that war.  Deaths Matthews attributes to the mistakes of the right-wing.  To which Gaffney basically replied, paraphrased of course, well, it’s a shame, but I think they had to die.  Read more…
