Quarterback for the New England Patriots, and heartthrob to all expects to be ready for the season opener against Buffalo.

Brady had a sore shoulder after defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth of the Redskins landed on him in the second half of New England’s exhibition win over Washington on Friday.

It’s not time to start changing your fantasy football team yet. Brady called into WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan show on Monday morning and had little concern that his injury would have any affect on his game.

“I certainly am expecting [to be ready],” he told the radio show. “The hit that I took, I just fell awkwardly, and any time a 350-pound man lands on you, most people would be a little bit sore — which I was. But I’m really looking forward to this week and getting prepared for this game, and then Buffalo is right around the corner.”

The Chicago Bulls selected Derrick Rose with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft Thursday night, choosing the Memphis guard over Kansas State forward Michael Beasley.

Rose, a Chicago native, led the Tigers to the national championship game in his lone college season. The Bulls opted for the point guard’s playmaking ability over the scoring and rebounding of Beasley, who ranked in the top three in the nation in both categories as a freshman.

Rose is the Bulls’ first No. 1 overall selection since they grabbed Elton Brand in 1999. He’s the second straight freshman taken with the top pick, following Portland’s Greg Oden last year.

Time Warner takes a page from the book of “give people what they want”

Enter SI Vault. If you are wondering what SI Vault is, as the name would imply, it’s 54 years of Sports Illustraded’s covers, images, stories and much more. If an image is worth a thousand words, what would 54 years’ worth of images be worth?

Here’s a story dating back to 1992, for example, on Christian Laettner and Duke. Hmm… Laettner? Duke? Pardon the shameless plug, but enjoy WatchMojo.com’s classic college programming:

Duke in Top College Programs:

And Laettner in Top College Careers:

All right, enough shameless promotion, now go and enjoy 54 years of SI at SI Vault.

Just weeks after Trent Green’s career appeared in jeopardy of being over, the quarterback has a new home.

Green told FOXSports.com that he’s agreed to a three-year, $9 million deal with the Rams.

The Rams were an attractive destination for Green because it allowed him to go back home to Missouri as well as play for an organization he had already spent time with in 1999 and 2000.

In his second stint with the Rams, Green will be the backup behind Marc Bulger. He was supposed to be the starter in 1999 before a preseason knee surgery paved the way for Kurt Warner, who led the Rams to their first Super Bowl victory.

Green visited Rams Park last week and had been mulling a decision whether to keep playing. He replaces Gus Frerotte as Bulger’s backup.

“We have now solidified our quarterback position,” coach Scott Linehan said. “You will be hard-pressed to find the quality we have at that position.”

Both Green and Bulger have played in two Pro Bowls.

Green believed his career was over a mere three months ago after suffering his second concussion in as many years. However, he was cleared late last month to return to football.

The Dolphins placed Green on injured reserve in October, then released him after the season ended.

Green played in just five games for Miami in 2007, completing 85 of 141 passes for 987 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions. He made the Pro Bowl in 2003 and 2005 as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Came across Bill Simmons’ column on espn.com and thought it was worth a post. He pretty well documents his thoughts throughout a Celtics - Rockets game. What makes it classic is that this Celtics fan is praying for a loss, and wishing all sorts of ill on team leader Paul Pierce, hoping that the team will have a chance at taking home one of the top two lottery spots this off season.
