After ending their season with an excing win after extra innings against the Detroit Tigers, the Minnesota Twins were swept by the New York Yankees.
Twin’s fans everywhere were sad to see the World Series Title lost and women fans were sad to see Joe Mauer leave home plate
until next season.
For those who have yet to hear the catcher for the twins is the new Mr. Minnesota. Born and raised in Minnesota, Mauer has become the face for the Twins. Not only is Mauer considered by many to be the best catcher of America’s past time or to be the first catcher to ever receive two batting titles (and soon possibly three), Mauer also possesses the qualities Minnesotans cherish most. He’s proper, polite and very humble… and did I mention he’s mildly good-looking and single?

Quarterback for the New England Patriots, and heartthrob to all expects to be ready for the season opener against Buffalo.
Brady had a sore shoulder after defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth of the Redskins landed on him in the second half of New England’s exhibition win over Washington on Friday.
It’s not time to start changing your fantasy football team yet. Brady called into WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan show on Monday morning and had little concern that his injury would have any affect on his game.
“I certainly am expecting [to be ready],” he told the radio show. “The hit that I took, I just fell awkwardly, and any time a 350-pound man lands on you, most people would be a little bit sore — which I was. But I’m really looking forward to this week and getting prepared for this game, and then Buffalo is right around the corner.”

No matter how flattering the film is, I have to say that I don’t think Erin Andrews knew she was being filmed. All girls know how hot it is to blow dry and straighten your hair when you’re completely dressed- especially in summer. Plus why risk getting makeup on the outfit you spent hours picking out?

“The NFL will not allow in-game Twittering by players, coaches or others on the sidelines during games, league spokesman Greg Aiello told ProFootballTalk.com on Thursday.
“We already have a rule that prohibits the use of cell phones or other handheld devices in the bench area during games,” Aiello told the website via e-mail.
The issue came up when Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco told a radio station this week that he inteded to start sending ‘tweets’ during regular-season games.
“I’m going to really make it fun. I’m using Twitter during games, during halftime, after the games. I’m going to be taking it to the next level,” he told KGOW in Houston.
PFT promises to look into whether the NFL’s ban on handhelds extends to the locker room.
Jim Mora was fined $25,000 for taking a cellular phone call during a game in 2005.”

(Sports Network) - The NHL will showcase its best and brightest Sunday evening in the hockey hotbed of Montreal, as the Eastern Conference battles the West in the 57th annual All-Star Game at the Bell Centre.
This is the fourth time Montreal has hosted the mid-season showcase in the expansion era and the first time since February 6, 1993 — just months before the Canadiens won their last Stanley Cup title. It’s also the first time the All-Star Game is being staged in Canada since Toronto hosted the event in 2000.
Playing All-Star game host is also another way for the Canadiens to celebrate their 100th year in existence. The Habs have planned numerous events throughout the season to mark their centennial, including the retirement of goaltender Patrick Roy’s jersey.

This give an entire new meaning to a “high word!” Crazy or crazy for scrabble…you decide.

TORONTO - The New York Yankees will miss the postseason for the first time since starting their run in 1995. Mike Mussina pitched five shutout innings to earn his 19th win, Jason Giambi homered and the Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Tuesday night.
ADVERTISEMENTIt wasn’t enough to keep New York’s slim postseason hopes alive as Boston beat Cleveland 5-4 minutes before the Yankees win. The Red Sox win clinched at least the AL wild-card and eliminated the Yankees from postseason contention.
New York shortstop Derek Jeter didn’t start because of a sore left hand, but came on as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning. This will be the first October that the Yankees missed the playoffs in 13 years — a remarkable run, which included four World Series titles.
The Atlanta Braves still hold the big league record by reaching 14 straight postseasons. No one team in the majors has currently made the playoffs more than two years in a row.
Mussina (19-9), who also won 19 games with Baltimore in 1995 and 1996, will try for a career-high 20th victory when he faces Boston at Fenway Park on Sunday in the final game of the regular season.
With his 269th career victory, Mussina moved past Jim Palmer into 33rd place on baseball’s career list. Mussina has the most wins of any pitcher never to have a 20-win season.
The right-hander allowed four hits, walked none and struck out six.
Marco Scutaro hit a one-out double off Mussina in the first, but was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple.
Mussina was struck on the right elbow by Travis Snider’s line drive single in the third, with the ball ricocheting into foul territory between home plate and third base. Trainer Gene Monahan and manager Joe Girardi came out to check on Mussina, who declared himself fine after two practice pitches, then ended the inning with a 4-6-3 double play.
Mariano Rivera worked the ninth for his 38th save in 39 opportunities.
Blue Jays right-hander Jesse Litsch (12-9) allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out a career-high eight.
New York opened the scoring in the second when Giambi singled, went to third on Xavier Nady’s double and scored on Robinson Cano’s grounder.
Giambi hit a one-out solo drive to right center in the fourth, his 32nd.
The Yankees made it 3-0 in the seventh when Cano doubled, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Gregg Zaun’s passed ball.
Toronto scored a run in the seventh on Scott Rolen’s RBI single, but Joba Chamberlain ended the threat by striking out Gregg Zaun and Snider
