So, beds are £6 (like $12-ish). You get no breakfast, and you’d be sleeping in a nuclear bunker. Here’s what you DO get for your money: ear plugs to cancel noise from the ventilation system, hot water bottles (instead of central heating), complimentary slippers for walking on the icy concrete floor, and the CHANCE to take a hot morning shower (if your name gets picked, you’re in!) In its latest effort to bolster the country’s economy when oil runs out, Dubai has built one of the world’s most extravagant hotels. The Atlantis hotel is set to open tomorrow, and boasts a $25,000-a-night suite. Oh, and the hotel is located on a remote, man-made island - of course. A small hotel in Turkey has decided to run with an entirely female staff, Reuters has reported. Before getting offended, you should know it’s because the male staff had been having affairs with the foreign female guests. A lot, apparently. I can’t be sure it never happens that female staff have affairs with male tourists, but there you go. Read more…

If you’re into cheap hotel stays, here is a deal of which you have to take advantage. The Leading HOtels of the World organization is offering guests to stay in their hotels for $19.28 per night. This deal is in honour of the founding of this organization which took place in 1928 (hence the price). Keeping in mind the hotels involved normally charge an average of $450 a night - so you’d be getting a 95 per cent discount.

Now open is the highest hotel in the world. The Park Hyatt in Shanghai is housed on the 79th to 93rd floors of the Shanghai World Financial Centre. This centre, also known as the “Vertical Complex City,” is one of the tallest buildings in the world.
