Canada is home to a large quantity of oil sands, otherwise known as tar sands. It is only recently that these particular oil reserves became available to the world, because of the intense effort and energy expenditure required to mine it. Enormous amounts of water are also required to mine the tar sands, and so fresh water reserves in the area are dwindling. Ryanair, an Irish no-frills airline, has decided that bathrooms are an option some people can go without.  They are considering making customers pay to use toilets aboard their planes.  The company’s boss, Michael O’Leary, claims he doesn’t “think there’s anybody in history gone on board a Ryanair aircraft with less than a pound,” he said - so asking for a pound to pee is therefore no big deal.  Read more… continue reading...

Gambling away money seems to be the last thing on peoples’ minds these days, and the effects are showing in the gambling hub, Atlantic City.  As many as five of the eleven casinos in the area could wind up filing for bankruptcy this year, and hundreds ofworkers have been laid off.  Plans for new casinos have been shelved, and even the Donald - Mr. Trump - himself is hoping to sell off one of his three Atlantic City properties.  2008 is the second year in a row that Atlantic City revenues dropped, after 28 years of increases.  Read more… continue reading...

Remember when traveling to Canada was affordable?  Fortunately, that trend is back as the US dollar has gained against the Canadian loonie.  If you do plan to take a trip to the Great White North, here a few tips about how you should navigate Toronto:
