One game that slipped under the radar this holiday season, and certainly may remain in the shadow of Mass Effect 2 is Dragon Age Origins.

As you may, or may not know… both are top-notch action RPG’s by BioWare Studios. Both games have been scored in the high 90’s and have astounding production values.

The main difference between them, aside from the medieval theme and application of Dungeon and Dragon style rules, is that Dragon Age Origins wasn’t given nearly as much media exposure as the adventure surrounding Commander Shepard’s team.

I am happy to report that despite this, there will be a Dragon Age Origins 2.

The first game has been praised and awarded, as well as criticized for its in-game graphics. I have been told that the PC version is stunning, while the console counterparts are poor cousins. Well, as a person playing the Xbox 360 version I’m shocked! I find the graphics to be very rich. Still, I always welcome improvements and can hardly wait for another Dragon Age romp!

Here is an in-game joke one of the villagers tells that’s worth a chuckle (oh yah, that’s one of the things I love about the new series: plenty of comedy, choices and sexual innuendo)!

I find it very odd that Donkey Kong hasn’t appeared in a real adventure game since Donkey Kong 64 in 1999 (I’m not counting Donkey Konga, Jungle Beat or any cameo appearances here).

So barring the possibility of a true sequel due to Rare Ware’s long-ago move to Microsoft… I guess I can still hope for an appearance on MTV. Check out this sing-along rap intro that the gorilla and family performed back in the solid old cartridge days!

I can guarantee you have never seen (or played) another game like this!

That’s right, I’m talking about 1998’s Nintendo 64 classic “Mystical Ninjal Ninja: Starring Goemon”. Not only was this one of the funniest and most epic Zelda knock offs of all time, but it had the Big Boy as a playable character and broke into Japanese Musical Interludes for no apparent reason! if you ask me, that’s pure gold!

Enjoy! (And Don’t be afraid to sing along)

The above trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 summarizes my most disappointing visit to the theatre EVER.

As a kid I was a huge fan of the games (I have liberal parents), specifically Mortal Kombat 1 and 2… and I think the first Mortal Kombat movie got the job done. it wasn’t amazing, but it was cool enough. But that second movie annihilated the franchise. Not only did it not make any sense, it was packed with too much garbage and treated the audience like idiots. Not to mention even worse acting and outdated clay-motion looking effects.

So, needless to say it caused me to never touch a Mortal Kombat game again.

Now, news is circulating that the Mortal Kombat movie series will see a reboot. I don’t really see the point, has anyone played these games since the good old days of the Super Nintendo? Frankly, I lost track after the 3rd game came out and they abandoned a coherent numbering system.

Assuming this is really coming, Mortal Kombat will seriously need to get back to basics. The first game only had 7 characters and a thin, though serviceable plot… while the first movie had wicked music and Christopher Lambert (The Highlander).

If they have to do it, they should find a way to make it good. The world does not need another “Street-Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-li”, which by the way was rated as the 44th worst film of the past decade.

All you need, the core cast of Mortal Kombat:

Well the reviews are in!

Within a week of release, Mass Effect 2 has already been touted as the second best Xbox 360 game ever. This honor has been based on the marks of 30 respected game review sites/magazines.

The number one spot is currently occupied by GTA IV, and number three is a tie between The Orange Box Compilation (which includes Portal and Half Life 2) and the original Bioshock.

This makes one wonder if Bioshock 2 can grab the title right from under Mass Effect 2 come early February?

It certainly seems possible considering the fact that the original Mass Effect scored worse then the original Bioshock…

Stay Tuned!

Wow! Rogue Warrior was a terrible game.

Luckily it ended with a musical surprise! They took all of Mickey Rourke’s catch phrases and made a rap to wrap up the game!

Warning: Rourke has a very dirty mouth.
Enjoy! (I’ve got to put this on the mix CD in my car)
