Hmm… I hate to come out and say there is collusion going on, but I agree that video games culture has in fact trained better killers, for sure.  Why deny it?  Johan Santana - Minnesota Twins’ Cy Young winner - has long argued that he gets an edge from baseball video games, so why would soldiers not get better thanks to games, too?

In a press release sent out yesterday, controversial attorney Jack Thompson claims he has found a correlation between the gaming industry and the US Department of Defense, who, he adds, are using videogames to teach “an entire generation of kids that war is glamorous, cool, desirable, and consequence-free.”

The release cites the gaming habits of recent youth-shooting perpetrators (Columbine, Virginia Tech, etc.), as well as “a formal working relationship between the Department of Defense and the game industry at the Institute for Creative Technologies on the campus of the University of Southern California” as evidence for his claims.

The aim of the release is to notify the media of Thompson’s new goal: proving the existence of collusion between the gaming industry and the Department of Defense in an effort to train more efficient killers.

The third installment of the EA SPORTS BIGTM street soccer arcade series will have not one, but three players gracing the cover:

Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that international soccer superstars Ronaldinho, Peter Crouch, and Gennaro Gattuso will be featured world wide on the front packs of FIFA Street 3, the newest iteration of the EA SPORTS BIGTM street soccer arcade series.

Ronaldinho, the cover athlete on the original FIFA Street, is a global megastar and the Brazilian International and FC Barcelona midfielders list of accomplishments includes a FIFA World Cup winners medal, the 2004 and 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year, as well as the 2005 European Footballer of the Year award.

Joining Ronaldinho will be Italian World Cup-winning footballer Gennaro Gattuso. The creative midfielder, who plays for A.C. Milan, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League title in the 2002-03 and 2006-07 seasons, continues the tradition of world-class athletes donning the FIFA franchise covers. It is Gattusos first appearance on an EA SPORTS or EA SPORTS BIG cover.

Completing the trio of world class players will be Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch. Liverpools top goal scorer in the 2006-07 season, Crouch has also been a consistent goal scorer for the England national team. He will have his 67 height amplified to compliment his ball-striking and finishing skills to create a new soccer experience.

The F1 is very nationalistic, sure, but this is beyond acceptable.

Although it’s one of the game’s many outstanding features, certain elements of the Live community – be it to express general political views or merely to get some form of reaction – have been using the Forza 2 paintjob editor to create racist themed cars.

Under the terms of Microsoft’s Live Online User Policy, users are not allowed to: “Publish, distribute or disseminate any topic, name, material, file or information that incites discrimination, hate, or violence towards one person or a group because of their race, religion, nationality, transgender status, homosexual status, or HIV/AIDS status, or that insults the victims of crimes against humanity by contesting the existence of those crimes.”

CARLSBAD, Calif., April 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — NTN Buzztime, Inc., a leading developer and distributor of Play Along TV® entertainment and technology, today unveiled the newly enhanced edition of its Crazy Golf interactive game. With expanded playing options and an updated three-dimensional design, Version 2.0 offers players improved functionality and more engaging play on new greens with graphically enhanced, realistic backgrounds.

Crazy Golf 2.0 offers an immersive virtual play-along experience with the addition of nine new island-themed holes to add variety to the game. Other changes include allowing tee-off from three origin points, three-dimensional in-game environments, and more skill-based challenge to each hole. It is also now possible to concede and take the maximum stroke score, allowing players to skip a hole if they find it too challenging.

Up to seven golfers can play at each network site, with the order of shooting rotating from player to player to keep the entire party engaged. The hour-long game features nine new “Castaway Islands” holes and updated play on the original “Buzzingham Castle” greens. Players can choose either course, or select an all-new random mode that presents a shuffled selection of exciting holes from both courses with no repeats.

“Buzztime is dedicated to offering compelling and challenging interactive games to players at our network sites,” said NTN Buzztime CEO Dario Santana. “Crazy Golf 2.0 is even better than the original, with visually compelling graphics, attractive greens and increased capabilities that allow players to do almost anything they can do on a real miniature golf course, including playing the traditional windmill hole.”

To celebrate the launch of Crazy Golf version 2.0, Buzztime is conducting an in-bar promotion at all of its two-channel network sites across the U.S. and Canada. Throughout the month of April, all hole-in-one shots will be recorded and players with the most holes-in-one at the end of the promotion will win fun prizes including gift certificates from major retailers. Crazy Golf can be found on Channel B at 2 p.m., 7 p.m., and 12 a.m. local time every day, and can also be accessed as a selectable game on that channel every half hour throughout the program day.

An independent market research study conducted in 2000 by Actionable Marketing Research shows that Buzztime players spend 47% more than non-players and stay 39% longer than non-players, providing bars and restaurants with more revenue opportunity from additional food and drink sales.
