Of all men Italians have to have the thickest beard, it’s no wonder that it’s the Italian barbers that have developed a technique to the closest shave. Here’s the secret to shaving according to Proraso.

1-Shave after you shower, before breakfast. This is because your skin is more relaxed and the beard is softer.

2- First, wet the skin with hot water and apply a little Before and after Shave Soothing Cream. The camphor in this product opens pores resulting in a closer and smoother shave.

3-Next, run a shaving brush under hot water, apply a small amount of the shaving soap to the tip of the brush. In a circular movement bring the soap to a lather on the skin. The brush exfoliates, massages and lubricates the skin while helping to raise hairs for a better shave. Set the brush aside, but don’t rinse it out just yet!

4- Wet blade under hot water. With the first stroke of the blade, move in the direction of the hair’s growth. Rinse the blade often. Make only one pass, just enough to get rid of the hair ends.

5- Slightly wet the tip of the brush with hot water and re-lather the skin.

6- Now shave against the direction of the hair’s growth. Apply more lather with the finger where multiple passes of the blade may be needed. For very heavy beards or very sensitive skin, repeat steps 5 and 6 again.

7-Rinse brush well! When skin is rinsed and dry, re-apply the Before and After Shave Soothing Cream as an antiseptic and astringent, to calm blade fire, irritation and to moisturize skin.

And now you have skin that’s touchable and oh so smooth!

This technique can be used for men and women anywhere you may want to shave.

Move over, Michelle. Another Obama is becoming a style-setter.

Sen. Barack Obama will wear a custom-made Hart Schaffner Marx suit (left) when he accepts the Democratic nomination in Denver on Thursday night (August 28th-2008).

The two-button suit is made of solid navy and worsted wool, with pleated pants that have an inch and a quarter cuffs.

“It’s a flattering fit and has a soft drape, and the material has a nice feel against the skin,” says Lisa Wells, director of public relations for Hickey Freeman, a subsidiary of Hartmarx Corporation –formerly Hart, Schaffner & Marx. “The silhouette is a classic fit; he’s a 40 long with a 33-inch waist.” Continue reading…

It just might be the next hot thing. A steel building is functional, sturdy and — if you can like it simple enough — quite a bit cheaper than a traditional house.

Shipping containers, those big metal boxes used to transport the lamps, washing machines and furniture in our houses, are now becoming homes in their own right.

The 40-foot-long and 8-foot-wide containers left empty at ports around the country are being recycled into stylish, eco-friendly housing that’s less costly than traditional construction. Continue reading…

According to MSN Lifestyle:

There are just some things in life that people can’t live without. For some, it’s food, for others it’s their car and for many women, a life without good shoes is an almost unbearable thought. Good footwear is an essential part of a complete outfit. It doesn’t make sense to go to the trouble of creating the perfect look if you’re going to throw it all away with a bad pair of shoes.

Shoes can become an addiction and I’m sure that if you’re reading this article right now you probably can’t count the number of shoes in your closet on one hand. It’s okay, you’re not alone.

As women, having choice is our prerogative, so limiting your shoe collection to a few old favourites will only hurt you in the end. Expand your horizons. If you’re usually decked out in flats, buy a pair of pumps for a sexy twist or vice versa. Think of shoes as another accessory and have fun with them, because nothing feels better than strutting your stuff down the street knowing that you look damn good.

Your essentials:

Pumps

Flats

Winter boots

Cowboy boots

Athletic skirts area a way for women to look good while they kick butt. With this look women can add a feminine touch to every sporty ensemble, not just tennis outfits.

Running skirts started getting noticed when a Yale graduate, Nicole DeBoom, won the 2004 Ironman Wisconsin triathlon in a skirt she had designed. She was inspired and began a company to offer like-minded gals an alternative to shorts.

“Her motivation has never been just to look pretty, but to look pretty while kicking butt. And she wants the women who wear her clothes to exude the same confidence and attitude. “

Not all athletes feel the same about this change of fashion on the court, some think that a skirt would make you less of a serious athlete.

Running skirts are different that your everyday skirts, they have far shorter- and more intimidating-hemlines. But serious athletes should feel no intimidation when it comes time to show off the legs they worked for.

It’s time to take grandma’s jewelry out of the vault.

That’s because the popularity of estate and vintage pieces is growing, even as the overall jewelry market falters. Since inventory is fixed and often in short supply, antique jewelry is sought after by consumers looking for one-of-a-kind pieces.

While the jewelry market is expected to experience several years of stagnant sales, “other” jewelry, which includes estate jewelry, has achieved at least modest gains, according to a May survey conducted by Mintel, a market research firm with offices worldwide. “Other” jewelry and accessories make up 15.1% of the market, up from 14.1% in 2005.
