A study has found that 2/3 of Americans do not wash their hands when needed. What’s even better is that Americans are not even the worse. According to this study, Germans are the worst at washing their hands, and by worse I don’t mean bad at it, but don’t do it. Only 25% admitted to washing their hands at appropriate times.

Here are the percentages who admitted they might not wash their hands properly in these situations:

  • After sneezing or coughing: 37%
  • After handling animals or pets: 27%
  • Before eating or handling food: 10%
  • After going to the toilet: 7%
