Most of us under the age of 30 have been in this situation more than once. We crack a simple joke to 15-year-olds, who will laugh so hard that they will be rolling on the floor. We tell the same joke to the elderly and many of them don’t budge. Not a sign of a smile, a grin or any sense of recognition or familiarity of what we are talking about in their eyes.

Now, science and psychology combined have come to a conclusion as an explanation to this well-known occurence.

 “A study by Washington University in St Louis found older people find it harder to understand jokes than students.

The authors say the finding should be taken seriously as laughing has been linked to health benefits such as boosting circulation.

The findings were published in the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society.”
