ok, so who doesn’t like Indian food, right? there are no shortage of places to go in Montreal for Indian fare, and you can certainly go to Golden Curry on St.Laurent and Fairmont (follow the “best of” in the city guide, but keep in mind that they also rate McDonald’s for “best fries”) and impress your date with decent eats and stroll to the reggaeton desert shop next door (Kilo) for a decently moist and delicious cake from their expansive display or get a sugar high from their candy offerings. the thing is, you’ll be paying out your pocket for what would be just as good if not better at Maison Indian Curry at 996 Jean Talon West (and St.Birnam) which is completely worth the bus fare or hijacking of a vehicle to get there because the portions are huge, the prices are cheaper than dirt, and the restaurant and staff are pleasant and charming. their chana samosa (a crispy samosa beneath a mountain of spicy chickpeas, or “garbanzo beans” to some) is enough to fill you up, but bring an appetite so you can sample all the goods.
