All Hail Queen- Life Beyond the Sun
Montreal January 15, 2007 - A voice that resonates from her soul is one way of describing the songstress Odessa “Queen” Thornhill.  Such a powerful tool, you will become a believer from the touch of her words.  Queen has spent a lifetime living in song, and March 4, 2007 Montrealers will be graced with her exquisite performance at the Kola Note 5240 Park Avenue.

In this second phase performance of Life Beyond the Sun, Queen will be sharing her stories through song and spoken word as well as performing music from her upcoming album entitled “Who I am”.  Backed by dance troupe WASAIKA and a combination of drummers as well as Musicians from the Kalmunity Vibes Collective her words will jump off stage and into your hearts.  This will be the performance of the year that Montreal has been waiting for.
After performing abroad in different ensembles, Queen has been at home in Montreal where she’s been laying down roots with local projects.  As a resident vocalist in the Kalmunity Vibe Collective (a collective of over 60 musicians and vocalists), she has helped give this group its signature sound.  Queen can be seen performing with Louis Toteda’s Corporate Band “La Gioventu”.
Queen has also had the opportunity to perform with great artists such as Zale Seck from Senegal and Muna Mingole from Cameroon .

Always on the move, she has also embarked as an entrepreneur with Her production company Uzuri.  This organization is focused on networking entrepreneurs, individual artists, bands and collectives.
Also featured in the evening will be a fashion show from jewelry designer Andre Silas Reynolds.  Originally from Barbados, his unique style fuses elements from his homeland as well as materials found here in Canada.  All of the jewelry is inspired by nature, using only materials found within; such as seeds, coral, bone, coconut and antler. This show will be featuring new pieces from the Velvet Pearl Collection, as well as the Spring/Fall 2007 line.

He has hosted two fashion shows in Montreal (1997 & 2000) in collaboration with fashion designer ‘Carl’.  His works have been on display at art galleries such as the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art (US)… Alvear Studio, design and imports (Baltimore, Maryland)… San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (San Jose, California)… He has also presented in various festivals throughout the Caribbean.
