On July 11th, Rhino Records worships The Jesus And Mary Chain by reissuing the band’s 5 CD Warner Bros. catalog as DualDiscs.  Each DualDisc features a remastered version of the original album on the CD side, while the DVD side contains the album remastered in high-resolution stereo along with a trio of videos.

Who are the Jesus And Mary Chain?

Scottish brothers William and Jim Reid formed The Jesus And Mary Chain in 1984 and spent the next 15 years creating fuzz-fueled symphonies of cacophony that hum with ragged pop beauty. Before disbanding in 1999, the band helped blaze a trail for the rise of alternative music in the ’90s and influenced a generation with its artful mix of sharp-tongued guitar pop and sprawling drones.

Exploring a vein mined by their heroes The Velvet Underground and The Stooges, Glasgow, Scotland-based alt-rockers The Jesus And Mary Chain were the link between melody and feedback in the ’80s and ’90s. The band’s half-dozen albums, nearly two dozen singles, and riot-inducing live shows were in turn an inspiration to the next generation of sonic subversives, from My Bloody Valentine to The Chemical Brothers to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
