Raised in Anderson, IN, some 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis, Jon McLaughlin grew up the son of a bass player in a home surrounded by music. His siblings played piano, and he began taking classical lessons at age four. After resisting the structure of classical piano training as a young teenager and dabbling with local rock bands, Jon hunkered down to composing his own music while in college at the Anderson University School of Music. Now an accomplished musician at the youthful age of 24, Jon is preparing for the release of his debut LP named for his home state, Indiana.
Jon McLaughlin’s forthcoming piano heavy pop album will appeal to fans of Ben Folds Five, John Mayer and Jason Mraz. It has been produced by in part by Greg Wells (Rufus Wainright, Natasha Bedingfield) and Jamie Houston (Santana, Macy Gray) and includes two tracks from his early songwriting days, Industry and Already In. His lyrics discuss the things Jon values most in this world: love, faith, family, friends and music.
