At a young age, Michael “Mick” Jagger discovered rock and roll and formed a band called Little Boy Blue & the Blue Boys. In his later teen years, he met with Keith Richards at the Dartford Maypole County Primary School, which they both attended. And since both men loved rock and roll, they soon started the band together.

The Rolling Stones began recording in 1963 and two years later had an international hit on their hands with ((I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. Most of the songs were written by Jagger and Richards whose hits include Brown Sugar, Miss You, and Start Me Up. Jagger took over the official lead role as leader of the band when Brian Jones left the band due to his out of control drug problem.

In December 2003, Jagger was knighted for his “services to popular music.”
