The catch is: the school had to promise not to try to find out the benefactor’s identity.  It is not clear whether the source is an individual, a group with similar interest or an organization.  Some of the schools even went so far as to contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Homeland Security to verify that the money was not ill-gotten.</p>
