Hugo Chavez Biography: Life of the Venezuelan Leader Born July 28th, 1954 in Sabaneta, Venezuela, Hugo Chavez was directly exposed to the poverty in Venezuela at a young age. He developed his ideas for political and social change while at military school and eventually amassed many followers. Though his attempt at a revolutionary coup d'etat attempt failed, Chavez continued to have supporters and was eventually elected president.
