World Press Photo: Selection Process

World Press Photo: Selection Process
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
The World Press Photo exhibit makes visible press photography as an art form. Entries to the contest today reach almost 100 thousand, and the final exhibit showcases the 185 best. After an exhaustive selection process by a jury of roughly 14 members, the photos are chosen based on certain standards. Criteria for winning photos include composition and pleasing aesthetics. However, more importantly, the photos are meant to prompt discussion. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com speaks with one of the contest's jury members to learn more about the selection process, and we learn why certain photos were chosen for the exhibit.
