Superhero Origins: Cyclops

Growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, a young Scott Summers lost both of his parents in a tragic plane crash. Hitting puberty, his mutant powers emerged, but he was unable to control the blasts of energy that were produced from his eyes. Alone and afraid, he was eventually found by Charles Xavier, and offered the chance to become the first mutant to enroll in his new school for gifted youngsters. Accepting, he was made the key member and field leader of the X-Men. Equipped with a specialized ruby quartz visor that would prevent optic blasts from randomly firing, he began training to one day become the Professor's successor.
