VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
This rascally rabbit was originally conceived in the late 1930s, but officially debuted in the 1940 Merrie Melodies short animation “A Wild Hare.” A smart and casually-mannered rabbit contending with a hunter, he popularized the hunter-and-rabbit scenario and several iconic catchphrases. Un-named until the short film “Elmer's Pet Rabbit”, he soon achieved overwhelming success due to his careless personality, charm and adorably innocent look, and became the most popular Merrie Melodies character. In the years following, he appeared in the Looney Tunes cartoon show, became the star of 1960's “The Bugs Bunny Show,” and appeared in several films and video games.
