] HipMojo.com » Adobe latest company to align with Google against Microsoft

Yesterday, Google announced a partnership with Adobe to promote its toolbar throughout Shockwave, the product Adobe got through its acquisition of Macromedia.  Shockwave is a browser add-on that enables multimedia playback and is installed on more than 55 per cent of internet-enabled machines.  Considering that Google’s got 48% of market share in search, this only strengthens its hand against Yahoo!, MSFT and IACI’s Ask.com.

We’ve already talked about Google’s attempt to corner MSFT, click here for that.

We’ve also talked about how Adobe is miffed at MSFT for wanting to bundle its PDF reader for free, click here for that.

It’s a shame for MSFT because ADBE would have helped it a lot in its fight against Google, but leveraging the contempt many have for MSFT, Google managed to woo Adobe away from MSFT onto its court.  MSFT could have extended an olive branch to ADBE and one way or another gotten their blessing to include PDF in MSFT Office, but because it sought to do it brazenly, ADBE got upset and threatened to sue.  And you and I know that once you bring lawyers into the fray, it gets very hard to win back control of the communications and attain some semblance of cordial discussions…

The Saga Continues… read more about the partnership here.

[This writer owns share in all of the companies mentioned in this article except for Google, though don’t let that bias you against them, they’re a fine company nonetheless.]
