As a startup, you never want to get a lawyer’s letter. IT startups tend to push the envelope by using a lot of APIs and what not, but what about when you are a startup doing something that upsets a major corporation. That has happened to many companies who took on MSFT and other established giants.
When you get a lawyer’s letter in that instance, at what pointis it become frivolous, at what point does it become harassment?
I don’t know if there is a fine line between “with merit” and “meritless,” all I know is make sure you have a good but reasonable lawyer on your list of advisors.
