			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Tech Crunch <a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/12/07/metacafe-may-be-sold-for-200-million/" target="_blank">broke</a> the rumor that someone, potentially Yahoo!, was in talks with the Israeli-based, video sharing site Metacafe.com, for anywhere between $200-300M.</p>
<p>If the deal goes through, good for Metacafe and their two VC backers, Benchmark and Accel, but it does suggest that the greater fool theory is alive and well.  The &#8220;rationale&#8221; here is that if someone paid $1.65B for YouTube, and YouTube is the #1 player with some 23M uniques (according to comScore), then paying $200-300M for a second tier YouTube with 3.8M uniques is a good deal. </p>
<p>That&#8217;s crazy talk.  But, hey, if everyone is jumping off a click&#8230; you might as well get in line.</p>
