] HipMojo.com » Launch of Mojo Supreme’s FREE Email Classifieds

After we developed and launched StreetMojo.com, the application matching people looking for free contests, prizes and promotions with marketers offering free contests, prizes and promotions (here’s a press release explaining it a bit more), I figured we could simply tweak the application and convert it into a classified service.  In fact, the matching application has many other derivative uses, and we’ll be rolling those out soon too.

As per classifieds, I love Craigslist.org but we have a growing network of sites and having an in-house classifieds platform to allow people to promote things is a nice service to offer our readers.  I also think Craigslist is so big that a lot of great listings get pushed down too quickly.  Trust me, that won’t be the case with ours anytime soon…  Of course, I hope I am proven wrong and listings take off.

My goal is not to take on Craigslist.  I’m not delusional (well…), but since StreetMojo.com has an email matching mechanism whereby you can also signup and select categories of interest, our classifieds allow you to pick which listings you want to get from which city and get a newsletter telling you of new profiles and listings according to your interests.

I could be very wrong, but I have yet to see other many (any?) classifieds do this.  Of course, I am more focused in online video and search then classifieds, but I have NEVER heard of “being the only company to do something,” usually when you are doing something, about 1-5 other people/companies are doing it too or already have done it.  To be perfectly clear: there is 0% chance that no one else is NOT doing this, (too many freaking double negatives at 1am) we’re the only ones doing this.  I just have not come across it.  I imagine LinkedIn probably does, but ours is for Classifieds at large and not jobs only.  Of course, I can’t be bothered with LinkedIn, Plaxo, etc., so I would not know or care.

How it works: In a nutshell, say you want to get a job in Boston in accounting, you can sign up as an individual, choose accounting and select Boston, if you opt-in to our no-spam, currently ad-free weekly newsletter, if and when an employer in Boston submits a job, you will be notified via the next email.

Alas, the flip side works too: an Employer can create a listing for a job in NYC for a marketing person, if an individual signs up with a marketing profile in NYC and the employer opted into getting the no-spam, currently ad-free weekly newsletter they will get “matched” with the candidate the next time the newsletter goes out.

Like everything else, it’s pretty raw.  Expect more bells and whistles to come.

It’s free for now but I am thinking of adding a token monthly charge to avoid the “crap.”  Of course, one man’s crap is another man’s park (that’s a lame one, I inverted the letters in crap… ooh!).

Enjoy and tell me what you think.
