Google is a technology company all right, but it is a master of media.  I won’t list all of the things it has done to make me say this, but today Google’s blog came out and blasted Michael Moore’s Sicko.

For a device that was supposed to sell like cupcakes, there are plenty of iPhones left.  Makes you wonder if camping out was necessary.
My Palm Treo - which I’ve had for 2.5 years - […]

Paid Content reports on a Globes Online (Israel’s Business Arena) that US and Israeli-based Quigo is looking to seize on investor demand for consumer web media companies, and I guess, the lack of new options.  It’s been a few years since Google put IPOs back in vogue amongst consumer firms, but there have not really […]

When pundits think of what might be in store for Yahoo!, the options that come to mind are as follows:
- status quo
- merger with eBay
- acquisition by/merger with Microsoft
- taken private
No one really suggests that Google will and can buy Yahoo!, and that has a lot to do with the current breakdown of the search engine […]

Earlier this year, Powerset made a lot of noise by securing the rights to natural language technology from Xerox Parc as it set off to index the Web and building a search destination site.
According to the much covered VentureBeat story:
The move is significant because Google’s own technology, based on “page rank,” has been virtually replicated by […]

Search?  Check.
Video inventory?  Check.
Software to serve ads?  Check.
Feed management?  Check.
The only thing missing from Google, really, is a sales force to sell ads.  After all, the Doubleclick aquisition was all about software, and not media, since DCLK got out of the media business.
Google should buy a sales organization involved in the sale of video ads.  It […]

I don’t like Rupert Murdoch solely due to the following ill-fated, pro-war words, taken from this 2003 The Guardian article:
Most revealing of all was Murdoch’s reference to the rationale for going to war, blatantly using the o-word. Politicians in the United States and Britain have strenuously denied the significance of oil, but Murdoch wasn’t so […]
