Another day, another announcement. This one, obviously, is earth-shattering (yes, I’m kidding, I think).

The stats and figures, from our comprehensive breakdown and recap of the wireless market:
- worldwide mobile content to grow from $16.7B in 2003 to $78B by 2007 (really?)
- mobile entertainment market to grow from $17.3B in 2006 to $77B by 2011 (really?)
- mobile advertising spending in US will rise from $410M in 2006 to $4.4B in 2011 (really?)
Naturally with this move alone, we’re going to get 20% of that. No seriously, I’m kidding… it’s been a long week, and it’s Wednesday, I know. Truth is, while I commend companies like MyWaves for trying to take those numbers from concept to reality, I think we’re far away from the Web becoming a threat TV for video content, let alone the cell phone market!
Some interesting tidbits from Mediapost:
Those and other emerging platforms - such as mobile marketing, video games, advanced television, and digital out-of-home networks - will actually grow at double the official online rate, rising 31.7% in 2007, according to a companion forecast presented Tuesday by Brian Wieser, senior vice president-director of industry analysis at Universal’s sister agency Magna Global.

Similarly, online video is growing rapidly, but still is a relatively small share of total ad spending. With an estimated $365.5 million in ad sales during 2007, online video will grow 55.5% over 2006, but will still account for less than 1% of the total TV advertising marketplace. Wieser projected that online video advertising would 53.2% to $560 million in 2008.
