Well, isn’t this ironic. In wake of reports that MySpace needs something, anything, to maintain its lead over fast-growing social networking site and soupe du jour Facebook comes the news that MySpace - masters of user generated content - will be looking for original content to maintain an edge.
It’s a great move though and one more sign that despite the critics MySpace is also doing things to move in the right directions. As a producer of original video content, I think this is just one more sign that UGC will not be what will drive online video advertising to become a considerable segment of the greater online ad market.
