I missed the precise date of this, but some time in April, we crossed the 10M mark for video streams in the first four months of 2008.
We did 10M in all of 2007, up from 5M in 2006. So do the math and we now have 25M since we launched in 2006; it’s very likely the actual numbers are 10-25% more, but it’s impossible that it is less. Online video analytics remain tame and in their infancy…
I can see from those numbers that our growth rate is accelerating.
For 99% of video producers and content owners, these are actually decent numbers, particularly for a bootstrapped, self-funded one, I presume. I wonder what our 2008 total streams will look like… I can say somewhere in the 25-100M, depending on a few things we’re working on. Yes, that’s a big range but when you consider that we closed off Q1 with nearly 5M streams in March, anything is possible.
A third milestone in April: our first 1M views clip on YouTube is this one. We don’t really aim for the multi-million stream clip but rather take a layered approach to have thousands of views all over the place with tens of thousands of views each day.
It’s working. Back to work.
