10-Creepiest-Videos-Linked-to-True-Crime

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’ll be looking at the scariest videos that are associated with terrifying real-life crimes.

The Feltonville Kidnapping

In the early hours of June 13, 2012, an unidentified man entered a home in the Feltonville neighborhood of Philadelphia. Security cameras outside the house captured the man walking through the front door and staying inside for about 45 minutes. However, the truly unsettling moment unfolds when the man exits the house carrying a young child. According to reports, the man led the girl down several blocks where he assaulted her and ditched her on the street. The girl then walked back home and was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, it appears the man was never caught, despite a handsome reward of $10,000. The footage is incredibly eerie, depicting the realistic horrors of a home invasion.

Opening Christmas Presents

A man sits on a couch and opens some Christmas presents, often commenting on them and showing them off to the camera. It’s a regular sight seen every Christmas morning. Only, these presents aren’t his. And neither is the house. The man is Von Taylor, who broke into a Utah cabin in 1990 with another criminal named Edward Deli. Deli found a camera inside the home and filmed Taylor opening the family’s presents. It’s a terrifying prospect, but the story only gets darker from there. The two men attacked the homeowners when they returned, killing mother and daughter Beth Potts and Kaye Tiede, and shooting Tiede’s husband in the head. Taylor was sentenced to death while Deli received a life term without parole.

Kevin Dixon Loads Up

On November 18, 2019, 20-year-old India Mackey made a cellphone recording of her boyfriend, Kevin Dixon, sitting in a van just outside his Warren, Michigan home. In the clip, Dixon can be seen wiping bullets with a napkin and loading them into a pistol. Sadly, this was the last piece of footage ever captured by Mackey, as she was soon shot by Dixon. He then drove around with her body in the van before getting pulled over by the police. The incriminating footage was later found by investigators on Mackey’s phone. Dixon was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, and his girlfriend’s final moments were widely disseminated by the media.

Chris Watts

As this list will prove, killers have no qualms about going on the news and attempting to give Oscar-worthy performances. Chris Watts is one such killer. On the morning of August 13, 2018, Watts murdered his wife Shanann and their two children before disposing of their bodies at a remote site used for oil storage. Shanann was reported missing by her friend, leading the media to Watts’ doorstep. He provided them with numerous interviews, feigning ignorance and pleading for his family’s return. The police also made some house calls, and Watts can be seen openly lying to them in various pieces of body cam footage. Fortunately, the ruse did not work. Watts was eventually caught and given five life sentences.

Stalking the Halls

At approximately 4:00 am on April 18, 2016, Midlothian, Texas resident Missy Bevers walked into the Creekside Church of Christ, where she conducted fitness classes. However, when a student arrived shortly after 5:00, they found Bevers dead, having been the victim of a violent crime. Investigators then combed through the church’s surveillance system and discovered something completely horrifying. An individual in full SWAT gear was seen walking through the empty halls, opening various doors and carrying a weapon of some kind. It’s believed that this person crossed paths with Bevers and committed the crime before fleeing. Unfortunately, the suspect has never been caught, despite a reward of $150,000.

Israel Keyes Kidnaps Samantha Koenig

A prolific criminal, Israel Keyes was a known arsonist, bank robber, kidnapper, and serial killer who claimed at least three lives but likely many more. One of his confirmed victims was 18-year-old Samantha Koenig, who worked at a small coffee shop in Anchorage, Alaska. Keyes kidnapped Koenig from the shop on February 1, 2012 - an act that was captured on its various security cameras. A terrified Koenig can be seen turning off the lights and talking with Keyes through the open window. He then climbs into the shop and ties up her hands before taking her away to his car. It was the last time Koenig was seen alive, as she was killed by Keyes the following day.

Stephen McDaniel

Similar to Chris Watts, Stephen McDaniel was confident enough to give an interview to the news. McDaniel killed his neighbor Lauren Giddings on the morning of June 26, 2011, later dismembering her body and disposing of some of her remains in their apartment dumpster. Giddings was reported missing a few days later and Georgia’s WGXA interviewed McDaniel, who pretended to be concerned about her whereabouts. McDaniel initially plays it cool until the reporter reveals that the discarded remains were found by investigators. With that shocking bit of knowledge, the killer’s demeanor completely changes and he falls into an obvious panic. It wasn’t long before he was charged with her murder and given a life sentence.

The Björk Stalker Tapes

For nine months in 1996, a pest exterminator named Ricardo López documented his slow descent into madness. López had developed an unhealthy obsession with the Icelandic singer Björk and grew incensed when she began a relationship with English DJ Goldie. An irate López then recorded a video diary chronicling his violent plot to kill Björk with a letter bomb. Like a real life “Taxi Driver,” López falls deeper and deeper into dangerous mania before mailing the bomb to Björk’s London home and shaving his head. He then took his own life on camera, hoping to be united with Björk in the afterlife. Fortunately, police were able to intercept the letter bomb and it was safely detonated.

Chalino Sánchez Receives a Threat

An influential Mexican singer, Chalino Sánchez made headlines in 1992 after getting into a gunfight in Coachella, California. Sánchez was attacked on stage and defended himself with a gun, resulting in a wild shootout that left one person dead and ten injured. But Sánchez didn’t have long to enjoy his newfound fame, as he was killed just four months later. During a performance in the Mexican city of Culiacán, Sánchez was handed what many believe was a death threat. Sánchez can be seen reading the note and appears nervous, wiping his brow and looking around with concern. But this wasn’t a baseless threat. The singer was kidnapped and murdered later that night, and his body was found by farmers early the next morning.

The Jonestown Videos

Search the internet and you’ll find many videos relating to Jonestown. This infamous settlement was located in Guyana and was the remote home of the Peoples Temple, a cult run by preacher Jim Jones. The cult gained infamy in 1978 when over 900 members died from cyanide poisoning, an act that is now considered mass murder perpetrated by Jones. Numerous videos were filmed in Jonestown prior to the massacre, often depicting cult members and even Jones himself. It makes for horrifying footage, knowing that these people would soon be meeting their end. But perhaps the scariest video was taken by NBC’s Bob Brown, who documented the Port Kaituma shooting that left five dead and eleven injured. Unfortunately, Brown was one of the deceased.
