Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Aquamarine Cast: Where Are They Now?
For this list, we’ll be looking at what the cast of the movie has been up to since its 2006 release.
Who’s your favorite Aquamarine star? Let us know in the comments.
#6: Tammin Sursok
Sursok was Marjorie in “Aquamarine”. Before Cecilia started rambling on about mermaids, they were close friends. Since then, she has acted in a variety of different projects. Namely, she played Colleen Carlton for over 150 episodes of "The Young and the Restless'', and appeared in "Hannah Montana" as Siena. However, most of us recognize her from “Pretty Little Liars”, where she was the inimitable Jenna Marshall. Sursok also played herself in “Aussie Girl”, and was Star Walker in the comedy-drama 2019 film “Braking for Whales”. Nowadays, fans can check out her podcast “Women On Top”, which she co-hosts with Roxy Manning, or head to her Instagram to see snippets of her family life! Her role in “Aquamarine” was minor, but Sursok’s achievements are undeniable.
#5: Arielle Kebbel
Kebbel played snarky mean girl Cecilia perfectly in the 2006 film. That same year, she was also Carrie in the iconic movie "John Tucker Must Die". Later on, she got a 7 episode arc on "Life Unexpected" as Paige, and landed a recurring role as Vanessa Shaw on "90210". Throughout this time, Kebbel also portrayed Lexi Branson on 9 episodes of "The Vampire Diaries", and Tracy Legette on multiple episodes of "Ballers". The late 2010s and early 2020s have seen, the actress appear as Sky Garibaldi in "Grand Hotel", and as Amelia Sachs on "Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector". Though things didn’t end well for her character in “Aquamarine”, the opposite has been true for Arielle Kebbel, who has achieved great success!
#4: Jake McDorman
McDorman was Raymond, the cute lifeguard everyone was crushing on but who only had eyes for Aquamarine. And he has certainly kept busy since 2006. On the small-screen, McDorman has had a number of roles, including Evan Chambers on “Greek”, Mike Pratt on “Shameless”, and Avery Brown on the “Murphy Brown” revival. Plus, he starred as main character Brian Finch in “Limitless”, though the show only lasted one season. As of 2020, he could be seen portraying Alan Shepard in “The Right Stuff” alongside such actors as Patrick J. Adams and James Lafferty. As for feature films, McDorman was Brad Warner in “Bring It On: All or Nothing”, Mr. Bruno in “Lady Bird”, and Connor in “Happiest Season”, just to name a few. This heartthrob has come a long way.
#3: JoJo
JoJo made a name for herself prior to the 2006 movie, and has continued to do so since playing Hailey. Though she’s known as a singer, “Aquamarine” wasn’t her only acting job. She was also in “RV” and “G.B.F.”, for instance. As for music, her career stalled for some time between the late 2000s and early 2010s due to issues with her label. But with that in the past, JoJo has made a triumphant return. In 2016, she released "Mad Love", and two years later we got new versions of "JoJo" and "The High Road". Then, in 2020, she treated fans to not one, but two albums: “good to know” and “December Baby”. Plus, 2021 saw her release a song titled "American Mood". To say we’re excited for more is an understatement!
#2: Sara Paxton
Paxton was the one and only Aquamarine in the movie of the same name. She had 3 days to convince her father that love was real, and ended up doing so through the friendships she formed with Hailey and Claire. Of course, the actress’ career extends beyond this awesome role. Her film credits include Marnie in "Return to Halloweentown", Rachel in "Sydney White", Claire in “The Innkeepers”, Sarah Ann in "Happily Ever After", and Donna in “The Front Runner”. As for television, she’s landed guest spots on a plethora of different shows, such as “Good Girls” and “This Is Us”. In other words, Sara Paxton is more than just our favorite mermaid: she’s a star.
#1: Emma Roberts
Since playing Claire in "Aquamarine", Roberts' career has continued to flourish with roles in such projects as “Nancy Drew”, “The Art of Getting By”, and “We're the Millers". The late 2010s saw her appear in productions like "Who We Are Now", "In a Relationship", "Billionaire Boys Club", and "Little Italy". Not to mention she brought Chanel Oberlin to life on "Scream Queens", and has often appeared on “American Horror Story”. Plus, in 2020 alone, Roberts showcased her range with roles in "The Hunt", and “Holidate”. But that’s not all! Book lovers can find recommendations and other literary content on “Belletrist”, which the star co-founded with Karah Preiss. Excitingly, she also became a mom at the end of 2020. Simply put, Emma Roberts has cemented herself as a powerhouse, and we’re obsessed!
