Everything You Should Know About Ratchet And Clank: All 4 One
The duo is back, fighting alongside their superhero friend and arch nemesis in their first 4-player adventure! Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be exploring everything you should know about Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One.
Unlike recent installments of the series for the PlayStation 3, this new game brings our heroes back to their present, following their exploits in the far future. As such, the story of All 4 One is centered on Doctor Nefarious’ latest evil plan to dispose of Ratchet and Clank, which ends up having them, as well as the deluded superhero Captain Quark, get abducted by the Creature Collector, an ancient machine that captures and transports the universe’s most dangerous creatures on a far off planet. As a result, the quartet must rely on each other in order to survive and find a means of escape.
Centered on multiplayer action, gamers can play alone with AI bots, or with friends both online and local. As a result, the game’s puzzles and combat is based on working with others and combining unique skills with an arsenal of cooperative weapons. Of course, these lead to memorable moments, loads of gameplay incentives and bonuses that reward both teamwork and rivalry. An example of which comes from the collection of bolts, the game’s currency, which is found when obliterating objects and enemies.
While all four players have access to the same store of basic weapons, the game packs many unique tools and armaments throughout its campaign. These include the grappling hook, Pyroblaster, the ARC Lasher, Quantum Deflector force field, cloaker, Darkstar Fission Tether and Vacuum Gun, the latter of which enables you to shoot out help in the form of items and characters that you had sucked up along the way. In fact, this even allows you to suck up a partner and shoot him onto a far off ledge that was out of reach.
In terms of ammo, All 4 One changes up the old formula by eliminating ammo boxes, instead having you step on ammo pads. Not only will these replenish all of your ammunition for one weapon at a time, but each player can only step on a given pad once before it becomes inactive.
Another major change for the series is the use of a fixed camera. This has been incorporated in order to accommodate the single field of view that all the players share.
And taking a cue from other similar 4-player outings (Editor’s note: New Super Mario Bros, Lego Star Wars), a player’s death is followed by a quick re-spawn, while the death of the entire group will force everyone to restart from the last checkpoint reached. Similarly, the inclusion of a new player into an existing game will likewise push everyone back to that last save location.
Ratchet and Clank: All for One is available exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in stereoscopic 3D. A manic multiplayer adventure, it not only lets friends take on platforming and puzzles together, but is packed with the thrilling action, humor and charm that the series is best known for.
